Chapter 302 This document, unbelievably, demanded that they transfer all their assets- unconditionally-to Claire.

Without their money, how could they possibly survive? What would becof their son, living abroad? But at this point, they had no choice.

Sean had connections everywhere; he was not someone they could afford to cross.

If they didn't do exactly as he instructed, not only would they suffer, but their son would be dragged down with them.

Fighting back a wave of anguish, Sophia's hand shook as she picked up the pen. She signed her non the paperwork, transferring everything Nathan had left her to Claire.

Round and round it went-the money that never truly belonged to her found its way back into Claire's hands at last.

Sean picked up the documents and, with solemn care, handed them to Claire. To Claire, the handful of papers felt impossibly heavy.

She raised her eyes and met Sean's gentle, unwavering gaze. A bittersweet warmth welled up inside her.

So, Mr. Foster had planned this from the very beginning. He'd made sure to reclaim everything that was rightfully hers-even preparing the documents in advance.

"Mr. Foster... thank you," Claire said, her voice catching. "You've done so much for me. I don't even know how I could ever repay you." Sean smiled softly. "Do you really want to repay me?" Claire nodded earnestly.

She owed Mr. Foster more favors than she could count.

The first time, he'd saved her from throwing herself off a bridge.

Then she'd drunk his thousand-dollar wine, and again and again, he'd quietly paid her medical bills.

She hadn't managed to return any of those kindnesses. And now, the debt on her conscience grew even heavier.

"Whatever you ask, Mr. Foster-I'll do my best," she promised, her tone sincere. Sean's smile deepened, his eyes glinting with something unreadable. The way he looked at her was like a hunter admiring the prey he'd lured into his carefully laid trap.

"Then bring this inheritance with you as a dowry-when you join the Foster family." His words were calm and measured, but to Claire, it was as if he'd tossed a stone into a still pond, sending shockwaves through her heart.

Her face flushed scarlet.

Last time, he'd proposed in Italian. She hadn't understood and had ended up agreeing before she even realized what was happening.

But this time, he'd said it clearly, in English each word ringing out with certainty, impossible to misunderstand. Struck by the enormity of the moment, Claire should have felt nothing but joy. Yet, for sreason, tears filled her eyes and spilled over uncontrollably.

Her heart ached with helplessness. Why did fate have to be so cruel-letting her meet the right person at the wrong time? She loved Mr. Foster. She adored his grandmother.

She'd dreamed of belonging to their family.

But her own broken body made her feel unworthy of him.

Mr. Foster was still so young. He deserved someone strong and whole at his side -not someone like her.

The tears kept coming, bitter and unstoppable, as she mourned the happiness she dared not claim for herself. Seeing her distress, Sean quickly grabbed stissues, gently wiping her tears away as he tried to console her. "Don't cry," he whispered.

Claire didn't want to cry, but the pain was too much. Even her long-awaited revenge against Vanessa brought her no satisfaction.

Every tshe thought of finishing her embroidery of *Radiant Beauty* and then leaving the country with Mandy-never seeing Mr. Foster or his grandmother again her heart shattered all over again. She couldn't hold it in any longer. Suddenly, Claire threw herself into Sean's arms and sobbed uncontrollably.

Her abruptness caught Sean completely off guard. He froze for a moment, then slowly wrapped his arms around her, gently patting her back. He knew she couldn't hear, but he murmured softly anyway, "It's all right. It's all right." From across the room, Brian Cole watched the scene with burning jealousy. He could hardly believe that, at a moment like this, Sean could so casually propose.

And Claire-she was crying tears of joy in another man's arms.

Jealousy gnawed away at his composure. Brian couldn't stand another second He bellowed, "Sean Foster, let her go! Claire and I are still engaged-I'm her fiancé!"
