Chapter 292 Sophia, thinking quickly, shot Garnett Brown a subtle, reassuring glance.

Garnett caught it, and, noticing that Nathan's suspicions had completely faded, the corners of his mouth curled up ever so slightly-a smile so faint it was almost invisible.

But Nathan, at that moment, was glaring at Claire with utter contempt. His voice dripped with scorn. "Trying to drive a wedge between Sophia andwith these cheap tricks? You've got the wrong man." "I've spent nearly thirty years clawing my way through the business world. Your little games don't even register on my radar." He sneered, his words getting sharper. "No wonder you're a Jones by blood- devious and poisonous to the core. That smug look on your face makessick." Nathan fully expected Claire to wilt under the humiliation, maybe even blush with shand embarrassment. But she didn't. Instead, Claire looked at him with an expression of pure pity.

It was the kind of look you'd give a fool who just doesn't get it.

That was the one thing Nathan couldn't stand the way Claire looked at him, as if he were beneath her, not even worth the argument.

He'd grown up in a dirt-poor village, and his family was the poorest of them all. Back then, everyone looked down on him, and he'd had enough of being treated like trash.

His face twisted with rage. He snapped, "What's that look supposed to mean?" Claire's lips curled into a mocking smile. "Nathan, you're truly hopeless. The evidence is right in front of you, and you refuse to see it. You're so eager to believe whatever Sophia says, no matter how one-sided." "If you won't trust what's in the files, at least trust your own eyes. Can't you see it? Vanessa doesn't look a thing like you. But she looks an awful lot like your driver." As the words left her mouth, everyone's eyes swung toward Garnett Brown.

Garnett was just the chauffeur, always keeping a low profile, so no one ever really paid him much attention.

But now, thanks to Claire's reminder, the resemblance was impossible to ignore- Vanessa's nose and mouth could have been copied straight from Garnett.

Nathan froze, his expression stiffening.

Sophia, quick on her feet, jumped in. "It's just an old saying-nieces often resemble their uncles. What's so strange about Vanessa looking like her uncle?" Nathan let out a sigh of relief. "Hah! People with filthy minds see filth everywhere." Claire's smirk only deepened.

"In that case, let's do a DNA test." Her suggestion landed like a thunderbolt, freezing Sophia, Vanessa, and Garnett Brown in place.

Claire fixed Nathan with a steely gaze. "If you're so certain Vanessa is your biological daughter, are you willing to take a DNA test with her?" Nathan's hands gripped the arms of his wheelchair until his knuckles turned white, his face ashen. He said nothing.

Claire pressed on, her tone icy. "What's wrong? Afraid? Or do you want Vanessa to be tested with Garnett Brown instead?"

The conviction in Claire's voice made Nathan's confidence start to crack. If it turned out that Vanessa wasn't really his daughter, everything he'd done for her- hurting his own wife, son, and daughter-would beca cruel joke. It wasn't that he didn't want the test. He simply couldn't bring himself to face the truth.

At that moment, Sean finally spoke way diam, up. "Dr. Lewis is here anyway Liam, go collect hair samples from Nathan, Vanessa, and Garnett Brown for Dr. Lewis to test." Liam nodded and moved forward without hesitation.

Garnett's heart sank. If the truth cout, there was no way he, his wife, and his daughter would make it out of the Foster estate unscathed.

There was only one option-grab his wife and daughter and run.

His mind made up, he swung his fist at Liam, desperate to make an escape.

But before he could land a blow, Liam caught his arm in a flash. With a sharp twist, Liam forced Garnett to his knees.

There was a sickening crack as Garnett's shoulder dislocated, and he let out a how of pain, instantly losing any will or ability to fight back.
