wouldn't let go of my hand, the needle lowered further into his skin, but he didn’t even flinch from the pain.
“You have a high pain tolerance,” | said with awe in my voice.
| couldn’t help the loud gasp that escapedwhen Alexander wrapped my legs around his waist and stood up.
My warm center pressed against his hard length, and I bit down on my lip so | wouldn't moan. Pleasure sizzled in
my veins as his hot body pressed against me.
He loweredonto the top of his hard, cold desk, such a sharp contrast to his warm skin. Alexander pinned me
down with his body, and the weight of him madetighten my legs around his waist before | could think it
through.
“Was your goal to draw blood?” he demanded in a rough, low voice, his eyes on mine. “Because you succeeded.”
Hot embarrassment washed over me, and I shifted uncomfortably when | looked down out our bodies wrapped
around each other. My heart slammed against my chest when | realized that if someone were to walk into
Alexander's office right now, we would never be able to explain this intimate position. This wasn’t like arriving for
work in the scar. This was much worse.

Then, | winced as | slowly pulled the needle out of his chest and threw it across the room until it hit the wall and
fell to the floor.
Alexander’s body relaxed. He wrapped his strong arms aroundand hugged my body close. If | didn’t know
any better, | would think that he was smelling my hair. | could hear Alexander's heart pound against his chest,
and his hands shook slightly as they held me.
My pulse quickened as the enormity of our situation dawned on me. Why had | tried to wake him up with a
needle? What had | been thinking? My parents had always called Grandma crazy for doing that.
As soon as he letgo, | rolled out from under his body and stood from the desk. My thighs were trembling, and
my nerves were frayed from being pinned down by Alexander.
| fixed my hair and straightened my clothes, trying to make it look like nothing had happened. All | wanted to do
right now was get out of the room and have a moment alone to think. | spun around to leave, but Alexander
caught my wrist just like he had down in the elevator. His touch burned right through me.
