Chapter 87

“Ely”

Amara didn't look at anyone else; she went straight to Elysia's side and whispered, "Don't waste twith them.

Let's go."

She wanted to get Elysia out of there. Finnian blocked her path, his brow slightly furrowed. "Why are you here

too?"

It made sense that Elysia, with her connections, would know where they were, but Amara's presence was

unexpected.

"She told me," Amara replied as she cast a frosty glance at Liliana, who stood behind Finnian.

Finnian turned around. "You sent her a message?"

"Sure did."

Liliana flicked her hair back, her demeanor both languid and alluring.

heads-up. | meant no harm, just thought Ms. Sullivan should know."

Finnian didn't respond, sbeams of the room's dim light resting on his hair, which only made his eyes appear

darker, concealing any emotion.

Amara didn't want a confrontation. Minutes ago, when Liliana texted her, she had been out shopping and hurried

over in a rush. She hadn't expected to find not only Finnian but also Dorian and Jessica there.

She knew all too well how much influence Dorian had over Elysia; seeing them together would surely upset her.

Amara just wanted to take Elysia away.

She held Elysia's hand, intent on leaving. But this time, it was Dorian who blocked her path.

"Amara."

Dorian's voice was cold, his gaze filled with irritation. He never liked Amara, and now she was stirring up trouble

again, which only added to his annoyance.

"Your marriage to Finn is just a

business deal. Why do you care who

Finn has a child with? Are you

harboring sdelusions about et

Finn? If so," he remarked, his eyes glinting with mockery, "you're overestimating yourself and, frankly, it's

pathetic."

Amara's mind went blank at his words, her irritation spiraling. Did Dorian just call her pathetic and delusional?

Jessica chimed in, taking the

opportunity to jab further, "Yeah, Ms. Sullivan, maybe there's something wrong with your face? If that's the case,

you and Mr. Everly don't match at af Someone like Ms. Porter is a much better fit for him."

Their unrelenting jabs filled Amara's chest with rage, yet she found herself at a loss for words.

They all seemed to think she was clinging to Finnian, but she had already handed Finnian a statement promising

to keep her distance. What did they expect her to do, produce the document and prove she wasn't trying to

seduce him?

No, that would be too humiliating. Amara bit her lip, frustrated by her own powerlessness.

Just then, Finnian spoke. His handsface was set in a cool, hard mask as he said firmly, "Amara's not like

that. Don't misunderstand her."

His words left Liliana, Dorian, and the others momentarily speechless.

Finnian was not one to meddle in others’ affairs. If he spoke up, it meant he cared about the person or the

situation, so did he care about Amara?

That seemed impossible. Why would any man, in his right mind, care about someone grotesque like Amara?

Dorian couldn't grasp the situation, merely bewildered, while Liliana's internal alarms were blaring. This wasn't

the first tFinnian had shown concern for Amara-she'd lost count of how many times it had happened. What

was she supposed todo about it?
