Chapter 259: Chapter 259 - With Me

Emma’s POV

| placed my head in my hands and sobbed.

“Hey, baby, no,” Logan said and pulledto him. “It’s going to be okay, Emma. | promise. We will fight it again

and we will win.”

| wrapped my arms around his waist and buried my head into his chest. | took a deep breath, letting his scent

relax me.

“Why does she have to go through it again, Logan?” | cried out. “I wish that | could...”

| stopped talking because an idea cto me.

What if | could? What if | could take Sophia’s darkness? What if my daughter didn’t have to go through it again?

“I know, Emma,” Logan sighed. “We are all wishing the same. | wish | could go through it instead of her, but we

can’t, baby. We can only be there for her.”

They could be there for her, but maybe | could take it from her.

| was an elemental just like she was. | had magic just like she did. Others couldn’t take it from her because they

didn’t have magic.

But I did.

| had magic and maybe | could take the burden off my daughter's shoulders.

Why didn’t | think of that sooner?!

“We will talk with Anna and we will see what can be done,” Logan continued, rubbing my back gently. “We have

to get rid of it for good. We have to find a way to get rid of it for good.”

Thankfully, he was completely unaware of my inner turmoil. | knew what he would say. | knew that he would

insist on finding another way, but | wanted to try it. | couldn't let my daughter suffer again. | couldn't let her get

hurt again.

| was going to take her darkness and | was going to deal with it on my own. | wouldn't let it hurt my family again.

This started withand it was going to end with me.

Logan kissed the top of my head just as the door opened and Alex walked inside. He kept glancing between

Logan and me. He had a pissed-off look on his face and | knew what he was going to ask even before he did.

“What is going on?” he asked angrily. “Why are you two so worried?”

Logan letgo and sighed.

“Close the door, Alex,” he said as he sat down on the couch and pulledto sit next to him.

Alex slammed the door shut and turned back around. He crossed his arms over his chest and narrowed his eyes

at us.

“Talk,” he said sternly.

| glanced at Logan and took his hand in mine.

“Sophia’s darkness isn’t gone,” | said, taking a deep breath. “It is just suppressed and it is only a matter of time

before it comes back.”

Alex's eyes widened. He gasped loudly and his hands fell to his sides.

“Are you kidding me?!” he shouted, clenching his fists. “Are you fucking kidding me?!”

He turned to his left and slammed his fists against the wall.

“Alex!” Logan shouted and jumped up.

He approached our son and pulled him away from the wall. He made him sit between us on the couch and | took

Alex's injured hand in mine. | watched his wound close slowly, but my mom instinct still wouldn't letdo

nothing about it. | stood up, grabbed a tissue from the desk drawer, and sat back down next to my son. | took his

injured hand in mine and started wiping the blood away, pressing on the wound as gently as | could.

“It's okay, Mom,” Alex mumbled quietly. “It's not bleeding anymore.”

| looked up at him and he sighed. He knew that he wouldn't win this argument. He was my son and | was going

to make sure that he was okay, even though he was a grown werewolf.

“How could this happen?” Alex mumbled as he ran his fingers through his hair. “He marked her. She cback.”

Alex shook his head and looked at me.

“Are you sure, Mom?” he asked, his voice trembling. “Maybe you are wrong. Maybe...”

| lifted my hand and caressed his cheek.

“I am not wrong, honey,” | said quietly. “I can feel it. It is still here.”

Seeing the pain in my son’s eyes only solidified my decision. | couldn't let my children go through that again.

Alex was broken the entire tSophia was gone. He was so scared that he would never get his sister back and |

couldn't let him go through it again.

“We will find a way to get rid of it, bud,” Logan said as he wrapped an arm around Alex’s shoulders. “We won't

let it take her again.”

“But what if...” Alex spoke, but Logan interrupted him.

“There are no what-ifs,” Logan said with determination in his voice. “We will find a way to get rid of it. It won't

take her again. We won't lose her again.”

Alex looked atand my heart broke.

“Do you have any ideas, Mom?” he asked desperately. “What can we do that we didn’t already? How can we

beat this thing?”

I had an idea. | had a whole plan, but | couldn't let them know. Not yet. Logan and Andrew would try to stop me.

They would say that we needed to find another way. They wouldn't letdo it before we ran out of other

options.

But by then it could be too late. The darkness could cback and take my daughter away fromforever.

| couldn’t let that happen. | wouldn't let that happen.

“I don’t know yet, honey,” | lied, making Alex sigh and close his eyes. “But | will find something. | promise. |

won't let it happen again.”

Alex leaned his forehead on my shoulder and | kissed his temple.

“Why her, Mom?” he mumbled. “Why her?”

| gulped and tried to stop the tears from falling out of my eyes. | looked at Logan and saw that he was trying not

to cry as well.

| placed my hand on the top of Alex's head and held him close to me.

“I will fix it, Alex,” | said, keeping my eyes on my mate. “I promise, honey. | will fix it.”

This whole thing started with me. It started because of me. | was the reason my children were suffering and |

couldn't let it go on.

| needed to find a way to take Sophia’s darkness and | needed to do it fast.

The curse would end exactly where it began.

With me.
