Chapter 822: Her breath hitched, and she squirmed, flustered. "You... knock it off." "What's got you so jittery?" Eric chuckled, mistaking her nerves for bashfulness. "The housekeeper is busy, and Elissa can't see." "Even so, rein it in." Hadley shot back, her frown deepening. “The doctor said we need to tread carefully these first few months." "Oh, right." Realization dawned on Eric, and he dipped his head, resting a gentle hand on Hadley's belly to whisper to their little one. "Fair enough, you're the VIP now." Then he perked up. “But a kiss won't hurt, will it? Just one more?" "Hadley?" Elissa's voice floated in, accompanied by the soft shuffle of footsteps as she rose.
"Elissa!" Hadley seized the chance to wriggle free from Eric's grasp. "I'm right here-don't wander off and take a tumble." She turned on her heel and hurried inside the bedroom.

A little while later, Hadley reemerged, guiding Elissa with care, only to blink in surprise when she saw Eric still lounging about. Hadley asked, curiosity piqued, "Something on your mind?" "Indeed." Eric flashed a warm smile. "Elissa, why don't you take a seat too? This concerns you." Elissa's brow creased in surprise as she settled down, clinging lightly to Hadley's arm. "Good morning, Mr. Flynn. What's this about?" "Here's the deal," Eric began, his tone purposeful. "Your eyes-treatment's still on the table, isn't it?" Elissa froze, her response sluggish. "I suppose so." Naturally, she had no desire to stay in the dark forever, but she had only just escaped her captor and hadn't had a moment to mull over where to turn, who might help, or if a cure was even in the cards.
Hadley caught the drift of Eric's plan. "Do you have a doctor in mind?" With the Flynn family's web of connections, she could bet her bottom dollar they knew someone who could help.
"You bet," Eric said with a playful wink. "If Elissa is open to it, I'll pull sstrings." Elissa bit her lip. "Won't that trouble you?" "Not in the least." Eric's gaze softened as it landed on Hadley. "You're Hadley's friend, and you've looked after her plenty. Hooking you up with a doctor is small potatoes." "Hadley," Elissa murmured, hesitating as she pieced together that Eric's kindness stemmed from his devotion to her friend.
Hadley's heart did a little dance-touched, tangled, and torn. She hadn't seen this coming from Eric.
The thought of leaving Srixby soon-leaving him—gnawed at her, but abandoning Elissa wasn't an option.

Steeling herself, she met Eric's eyes with a resolute smile. Thank you! Please make it happen."
"There you go thankingagain," Eric teased, his fingers brushingm Hadley's cheek in a tender, effortless gesture.
"I'll set it up for tomorrow morning." He rose to his feet. "Oh, and I might not make it myself, so I'll send Ernest in my place." "What? Ernest?” Hadley and Elissa chimed in unison, jaws dropping.
