Chapter 244 Don’t Waste

Your Heart On The Wron...

“What?” Sebastian reacted with surprise. “But...”

“Please, Sebastian, there's no need to worry,” said Hadley, her smile gentle as she provided an explanation. “You

should go ahead. I've spent the night at the hospital and left for the dance stusince leaving the hospital this

morning. | need to shower and change. If Eric asks of me, just let him know I'll arrive a little later.”

“I understand now,” Sebastian responded.

Relieved, Sebastian continued, “I'll go deliver the items. Callwhen you're ready, and I'll cto pick you

up.”

“Thank you, Sebastian.”

“Anytime.”

Watching Sebastian depart, Hadley then made her way upstairs to the walk-in closet, selecting sclothes

before proceeding to the bathroom.

She genuinely needed to freshen up, not just making up excuses.

After the shower, as she dried her hair, Hadley continuously yawned, tears rolling down her face from sheer

exhaustion.

Exiting the bathroom, she felt a heaviness in her head and staggered toward the bed, where she promptly

collapsed.

As soon as her head touched the pillow, drowsiness swept over her. She couldn't resist the urge to sleep, her

eyelids too heavy to keep open.

Drifting off, she quickly fell into a deep sleep.

Having delivered the suitcase to the hospital, Sebastian found a nurse updating Eric’s IV setup.

Sebastian stood alone, prompting a puzzled look from Eric. “Why are you by yourself? Where's Hadley?”

“She didn’t make it here...” Sebastian said.

Conveying her plans, Sebastian added, “She mentioned she'd arrive later.”

He then proceeded to the walk-in closet with the luggage in hand. “I'm going to put this inside.”

“Okay.”

Eric acknowledged this but felt a twinge of worry.

Chapter 244 Don’t Waste Your Heart On The Wrong Person

As dusk began to fall, there was still no sign of Hadley.

Restlessness overtook Eric, and he reached for his phone, dialing her number.

After a second attempt, the line finally connected.

“Hello,” Hadley said, barely audible. “Who's this? What's happening?”

“Hadley,” Eric called out gently.

Upon hearing her sluggish response, he speculated, saying, “You sound asleep, are you?”

Barely stirring, Hadley responded, “Yes... I'm exhausted. Do you need anything?”

Eric paused, his mouth opening slightly. “No, it’s nothing. Just... have a good sleep.”

“Alright.”

She ended the call abruptly, leaving Eric without the chance to bid farewell.

“Hadley? Hello?”

For a few moments, Eric gazed at his phone in disbelief, his frustration mounting rapidly.

It dawned on him that Hadley wasn’t returning.

In a sudden burst of anger, Eric hurled his new phone against the floor, where it smashed with a resounding

crack.

Just then, Phillips entered the room and took in the scene. Stepping forward, he understood Eric's distress and,

as he called for a nurse to deal with the mess, he assured Eric, saying, “Mr. Flynn, I'll fetch Hadley for you

immediately.”

With that, he began to leave.

“Stop!”

Eric's voice stopped Phillips in his tracks after a single step.

A stern look crossed Eric's face. “Who said you could decide for me? Hadley is resting. Let her be!”

Phillips was visibly surprised.

Could Eric truly be serious?

He was injured, and logically, Hadley, his girlfriend, ought to be at his side.

Yet Eric seemed to prioritize her rest over her presence.

Wasn't it possible for Hadley to rest in his room, though?

Eric gave Phillips a look. “Hadley had a rough night. She’s fast asleep now so let her be; his more

comfortable than here. She needs her sleep.”

Reluctantly, Phillips agreed. ““Understood.”

Hadley continued sleeping well into the next day, skipping meals to catch up on her rest.

Waking up feeling rejuvenated, she headed downstairs where the housekeeper had already prepared breakfast.

Enjoying her meal at a leisurely pace, Hadley noted the time. It was tto make her way to the hospital.

Choosing not to call Sebastian, she left the villa, opting for a bus followed by the subway, in no particular hurry.

Upon her arrival at the hospital, she discovered that Ernest and Linda had visited Eric early that morning,

coinciding with the doctor's rounds.

“Mr. Flynn, I'm pleased to report that your brother is responding well to treatment. With continued care over the

next few days, he should recover nicely.”

“Appreciate it.”

“You're welcome.”

Once the doctor had exited, Linda surveyed the room, noted Hadley’s absence, and her expression turned to one

of frustration.

“Where could Hadley have gone this early? She missed the doctor's rounds? How can she look after you if she’s

not even here to listen to what the doctor says?”

Eric’s expression softened slightly. “She was quite tired from the day before last. | suggested she go hto get

srest last night.”

“Really?” Linda's voice was filled with disbelief. “You actually sent her home? And she just left?”

“Yes,” Eric responded, his tone even.

Linda scoffed, “Quite the scene, isn’t it? Her boyfriend's laid up in the hospital, and she doesn’t seem to mind

at all!”

“Linda,” Ernest interjected with a frown, coming to Hadley’s defense. “She was genuinely worn out.”

“Why do you feel the need to defend her?” Linda asked, turning her gaze to Ernest. “Are you confused too? Eric's

not himself right now, and neither are you, it seems! | can’t believe you're blind to the truth. Hadley doesn’t truly

care for Eric! You're his brother; you should be telling him to guard his heart, not encouraging this fantasy...”

At that moment, the door clicked open. Hadley walked in without knocking, causing a sudden hush t

the room.

Linda stopped mid-sentence, and all eyes shifted to Hadley.

With a gentle smile, Hadley said, “Good morning... Ernest, good morning.”

“Good morning,” Ernest replied quietly, his voice soft. He shot a glance at Linda and then rose, using his cane

“Now that Hadley is here, we should be on our way,” he suggested.

Reaching out, he offered his hand to Linda.

Linda shot him a frustrated look but took his arm, saying, “Alright, have it your way.”

Ernest gave her hand a gentle pat and glanced at Hadley with a playful smirk. Now that you're here, Eric will be

in good spirits. He couldn't stop talking about you the whole time, and frankly, my ears need a break”

Without reacting to his joke, Hadley accompanied Ernest to the door and saw him out.

She then turned back to Eric, observing his attractive but somewhat pale and frail features, and pursed her lips.

“I apologize. | meant to rest for just a bit yesterday after my shower, but exhaustion took over, and | couldn’t

wake up. How did you fare last night?”

Eric looked at her thoughtfully. Her explanation was logical, she apologized, showed concern, and tried to

reconnect..

Still, he sensed a gap between them.

Hadley was physically close, yet emotionally, it felt as if she was miles away....

Eric's expression darkened slightly. “I survived the night, at least.”

Was he being sarcastic again? Hadley let out a small laugh, wondering if he was throwing a tantrum again.

Suddenly, there was a knock at the door.

It opened to reveal the nurse.

“Miss Pearson,” the nurse said, her tone official Has Mr. Flynn eaten yet? We shouldn't administer the IV on an

empty stomach.”

Wess”

“No!” Eric interrupted before Hadley could respond affirmatively.

“You haven't eaten yet?” Hadley expressed her surprise. “How have you gone all morning without food?”

Eric chuckled ruefully. “Well, you've just gotten here and brought nothing with you. What was | supposed to

eat?
