Chapter 1629:

“Alright. Thank you.” Hadley nodded again, and then turned as Tamara approached from behind. “Tamara?”

“I've got it,” Tamara said quickly, stepping forward. “Doctor, I'll cwith you to get the meds.”

“Alright.”

Once they had picked up the prescription, Hadley guided Elissa back to Lion Bay. Elissa, drained and silent,

leaned heavily on her—barely able to keep herself upright.

At Lion Bay, Hadley and the caregiver helped Elissa into her room, eased her onto the bed, and made sure she

was comfortable. The caregiver stayed close, keeping watch.

The moment she stepped out of the room, Hadley reached for her phone and called Ernest.

“Hadley?”

“Ernest...” She rubbed her temple, exhaling sharply. “Elissa’s really out of it. She’s lying down now...”

Hadley recounted everything that had happened at the clinic.

“I see,” Ernest said, his voice low. “Thanks for handling it. I'll wrap things up here and head over as soon as |

can.”

“Ill stay until you get here.”

Though the caregiver was present, Hadley knew they were only trained for routine care. Anything more serious

would be beyond them.

“Alright. Thanks again.”

Once the call ended, Hadley made her way downstairs. A servant stepped forward to greet her.

“Miss Pearson, would you like something to eat?”

“Yes, please. Thanks.”

She didn’t turn it down and headed into the dining room, taking a seat for a quiet meal. Between bites, she sent

a message to Eric.

“I'm at Lion Bay. Elissa’s not doing great, so I'll wait here until Ernest arrives.”

“I'll cpick you up soon.”

Hadley smiled and tapped a reply. “OK. I'll wait for you.”

As it happened, Eric arrived before Ernest. Hadley had just finished her meal and was slowly sipping a cup of

coffee.

“I'm thirsty.” Eric leaned in, his face nearing her cup. “Lethave some.”

“Don’t...” Hadley pushed him back, shaking her head. “It's coffee, and you're on meds. You know you can’t have

that. Go drink water.”

“Then get it for me. Feed me.”

“Alright, alright.”

Setting her cup down, Hadley walked off to pour a glass. Eric clung to her, looping an arm around her waist as

they moved together, close and easy.

“Here.” She held the glass up to his lips. “Drink.”

“Mm.” He didn’t loosen his hold, letting her feed him like a child clinging to comfort.
