Chapter 713 You Have Already Earned My Respect
The food in the cafeteria was truly amazing. Jenny was satisfied, and she praised Alfred.
"You're great at your job. Even the food in the cafeteria tastes good. You're really putting a
lot of effort into this.’
"Of course. After all, I come here every day.’ He was all alone. Eating in the cafeteria was
the most convenient thing for him to do.
Jenny felt embarrassed. 'What if L.get you an assistant? Don't tire yourself out."
"It's fine. I don't need one yet. If the workload becomes too much, I'll figure it out." He had
the final say in whatever happened in the company. Jenny wouldn't even know if he had
hired one, or several, assistants.
"Okay. You'll have to go by your judgment. Take care of yourself because I'm putting this

said it sincerely, but in Alfred's ears, they sounded unpleasant.
He glared at her in a huff and said, 'I'm just a tool to you, aren't I?"
"Uh..."
"I thought we were friends." Alfred smiled bitterly. He probably overestimated how much
Jenny thought of him.
Jenny nodded at once and said sincerely, "Of course we're friends."
"Really?* He didn't believe it.
"Really." Jenny nodded. There were no lies spoken. Although she had hired him with the
intention of using him, that was a long time ago. She had already completely trusted him.
She would not have entrusted the company to him otherwise.
Alfred smiled when he saw her nod. He felt better at once. ’Well, it seems that my efforts
have not been wasted."
"Of course not. You have already earned my respect." Jenny no longer talked about this.
She thought of Mortimer and said, "Is your father...still in the hospital?’
"Yeah." Alfred's face was expressionless.
"I thought that you would be on good terms with him." After all, Mortimer had abandoned
Alec and his mother for Alfred and his mother. Alfred had experienced the love that Alec
had not. They should be on good terms.
Now, it seemed that wasn't the case.
Alfred ate his food, saying nonchalantly, "I know what you're thinking, but the truth is that
he never really loved my mother all those years they were together. They fought a lot, and
after each fight, he would play the victim and say he had given up a lot for us. He never
really loved me. At most, I saw him every day, but I really preferred not to. At least. I'd be

He and Alec felt differently about Mortimer. Alfred did not hate him. He was merely
indifferent.
That was the first time Jenny heard him say so much about Mortimer. She was feeling a
mixture of emotions. She suddenly felt that whatever Mortimer was experiencing right
now was karma. He had wronged too many people. Perhaps this was what he deserved.
They did not talk about it anymore. At this moment, Jade came to the cafeteria to eat as
well.
She and Alfred were not alike. She didn't come there often, preferring to cook at home.
"Jenny? Why didn't you tell me that you were coming?" Jade came over with her plate of
food, complaining.
