Thrown Into A New World: Let The Punishment Begin!
Chapter 207 - A Long MeetingChapter 207 - A Long Meeting
Just as marquess Samed had speculated, Baron Quinn MacIntyre was with the Royal Steward at this moment.
The man who had been waiting at the Palace gates with his Butler was greeted by the Royal Steward and a couple of the servants that had followed him.
"Fetch them and send them to the kitchen after checking them." The steward ordered the men who had come with him.
The two men bowed in acceptance before stepping towards the Baron's Butler.
The Butler bowed in greeting as he handed over the basket that he had been holding.
The palace servants were quick in their steps as they hastened to the kitchen after receiving the basket from him.
Once the basket holding the baked goods was taken away, the Butler's work here was done.
Hence, he bowed once again to his Master and also to the Royal Steward before returning to the carriage outside the palace gates where he would wait until his Master finishes his work here.
The Royal knights did not allow any carriages to enter the palace grounds due to security purposes.
Once the person summoned by the King arrived at the Palace gates, they would be brought inside under the guidance of the Royal Steward.
This was only for the days when there was nothing special in the palace.
On the days that the Palace grounds held a party or a celebration, the rules would be different.
On such an occasion, the nobles could use their own carriages to enter the grounds provided that they underwent thorough checking first.
The exception of this rule was also for the frequenters to the Palace who had daily business to do with either the King or the other Royal family members.
Follow on NovᴇlEnglish.nᴇtMarquess Samed was one of the frequenters as he had to arrive each day to teach the Royal Princess and her playmates.
Therefore, he was allowed to use his own carriage after it was checked by the guards.
As today was not a special day, Baron MacIntyre's carriage had been asked to stay outside by the guard in charge.
The Royal Steward soon rushed out with the two servants who had now disappeared with the baked treats.
"Follow me, Baron." The steward requested as he gestured to the carriage which was standing at a short distance away from them.
Baron MacIntyre nodded as he walked towards the carriage that the Royal Steward and the other servants had come in while he and his butler were waiting outside.
The two men now entered the carriage after the Steward gave him a hand to help him get into the coach.
The ride to the Royal Palace was a short one as the carriage stopped moving after a few minutes.
Baron MacIntyre alighted from the carriage with the Steward and soon were on their way to the Parlor.
Along the way, the Baron kept his eyes open as he took in the view of the place he had never been to before.
The Steward's feet came to a halt before a room as he signaled the man to enter.
Baron was invited inside and was asked to take his seat which he obeyed silently.
"I shall inform the King of your arrival." The Steward mentioned before leaving the man inside the room.
The Baron sat on the couch and waited in silence for the man's return.
'Never been to this part of the Palace before.' He remarked as he stared at every object in the room as there was no one to watch his curious actions.
The nobles who had attended the coming of the New Season ball at the Palace which was also the birthday of the King or any other celebration had seen the other part of the Palace.
The ballroom and the garden adjacent to it were the only areas that had been accessible for them to move around in.
The area that he had been brought to today was a different part of the Palace which the nobles could gain access to only after receiving a summon from the King.
A summon that he was proud to own and would most likely frame it in his Parlor once he was done today.
'If people hear about my trip to the Palace then I can profit from the fame alone.' He planned on what his next move would be.
While Baron MacIntyre was thinking of ways to expand his business once he received this order, the doors were pushed open and the steward made his appearance before the man.
"The King shall see you now." He informed and waited for the man to calm down.
Like everybody's first time, he could see the nervousness on the Baron's face which was a given as he would soon be meeting the Ruler of the entire Kingdom.
A personal meeting that even many of the nobles could not boast about.
Baron MacIntyre composed himself fairly quickly and rose from his seat, following which he nodded at the Steward as he gestured him to lead the way.
The two men began their short journey to the Throne room where the King awaited their arrival.
Baron Quinn MacIntyre stood before the large black door and stared at the birds carved on it.
His wide eyes as he marveled at the sight was something that every man who stood before these doors had done at least once in their lifetime.
Since this was his chance to do so, the Steward gave him a moment to take in the carving's glory.
"Prepare yourself." He advised and pushed the doors of the Throne room open.
Follow on Novᴇl-Onlinᴇ.cᴏmBaron MacIntyre was grateful for the reminder that this man had given and he was quick to take a deep and calming breath.
His stressed nerves did not relax as the pressure of being before the King was making him nervous.
King Ophire glanced up when he saw the doors being pushed open.
'Hurry up!' He scowled when he saw that his steward was standing next to the man who was not moving a single step forward.
Glaring at his trusted steward, he narrowed his eyes which conveyed the message that he had been trying to give loud and clear.
This was because the steward nudged the Baron to help him step forward.
Once Baron MacIntyre had come out of his daze, he hurried with the Steward and reached the bottom of the stairs which led to the Throne on which their King was seated.
"Pardon me, Your Majesty, for delaying the meeting." He apologized with a deep bow.
'I am not that vicious to punish him for freezing at the entrance.' King Ophire rolled his eyes at the man who was now trembling with his back bent low.
"Rise!" The Ruler commanded which was obeyed in the next moment.
King Ophire again glanced at the steward when he saw that the Baron had frozen once again.
'Wake him up, will you?' He blinked at his steward who could comprehend what his glance meant.
The Steward cursed at the Baron who was freezing at every second.
"Greet the King, Baron." He leaned closer and whispered in the plump man's ears.
Hearing the helpful whisper, the Baron followed the advice as he bowed his head once again.
"Greetings to you, Your Majesty." He wished with a loud voice, loud enough to let his greeting echo in the large but empty Throne room.
'I can already tell that this will be a long meeting.' King Ophire sighed as he waved his hand as a gesture of acceptance of the greeting.
