Chapter 631: What a Monster!

She just needed to be sure.

She needed to hear him say it.

"Arthur?" she called softly, breaking his long silence.

His gaze flicked to her, unreadable. He must have realized she wouldn't let it go until he said something.

"I think..." His voice was steady, though colder than usual. "...you should do whatever makes you happy."

"I see." Nnenna nodded slowly. Then, as if testing him, she added, "And you would be happy if Darius and |

ended up together?"

The question landed like a stone in still water. Both men stiffened, Carl's eyes widening. He nearly asked her

what exactly she was getting at, suspecting she knew far more than she should, but Arthur beat him to it.

"Where's this coming from?" His tone sharpened, but he caught himself, forcing it into a measured calm.

Nnenna turned to face him fully, expression unreadable, almost innocent. "I don’t know. I just want to know if

you approve. Should it have to cfrom anywhere?"

Carl's brow arched, but he stayed silent. This wasn’t his battle. This was Arthur's, and only Arthur's, to answer.

Arthur let the silence stretch, scanning her face as though he could dig out shidden meaning. But there was

nothing. She looked entirely sincere, like she was simply asking a harmless question.

Finally, he gave the only answer he could.

"No. It shouldn't. And as for your question..." His voice tightened, clipped, leaving no space for follow up. "If

you're happy, then I'm happy."

Two months went by in a blur.

Nnenna spent the entire thelping others, motivating them, encouraging them, comforting them, advising

them. If there was something she could do, she did it. Yet not once did she focus on her own rehab.

To everyone else, it was strange. Why register if she wasn’t going to work on herself? Swhispered she

should've just applied to work at the facility and earn a salary.

With her background and connections, running the entire place would've been child's play. But who dared

question her? To them, she was like a great Buddha, too untouchable, too radiant, too determined.

Finally, on the last night of those two months, Nnenna sat quietly in her room. Tonight would be her first attempt

to walk again after so many months.

No one understood what she had truly been doing all this texcept her and the Love System. Every effort,

every act of kindness, every ounce of encouragement she gave others had not been for nothing.

She had gained more than just goodwill, she had gathered enough points to not only walk again but also to be

better prepared for the war looming ahead.

And in her spare time, she still worked with Arthur and Carl. Together, they pieced through reports and sightings.

From what they had gathered so far, Athena was making bolder moves than ever, weaving her schemes faster

and darker than before.

Now that she had accumulated enough good points, Nnenna decided it was time. Tto walk again.

If she waited any longer, her legs would weaken further, muscles wasting away from disuse. She needed them

strong, not just to graduate from the academy, but to stand, to fight, to reclaim what was hers.

She wheeled herself into her room from the living area and closed the door.

"Love System... I'm ready," she whispered after taking a deep breath.

Ding!

[74,000 Good Points deducted!]

The sound faded, and in the next instant, a glowing light burst from her chest, spreading down to her legs.

"Ahh—!" Nnenna gasped as waves of pain tore through her body.

The light flared so brightly she had to shut her eyes, but she knew anyone passing outside would notice. Her

muffled screams only made it worse.

"Princess?! Princess, are you all right?" an orderly called, alarmed, banging lightly on her door.

Nnenna couldn’t respond. She was too busy fighting the fire consuming her bones as they cracked, shifted, and

reconstructed. Her teeth sank into her lip to hold back the scream, but when the pain spiked, it ripped out of her

anyway.

"Gosh! Why didn’t you warnabout the blinding light, and this freaking pain?!" she shouted at the Love

System.

But there was no answer.

"Princess!" The orderly’s voice rose in panic. Moments later, his footsteps pounded down the hall. "Get

maintenance to open this door! The Princess is in trouble!"

Inside, Nnenna trembled, drenched in sweat, clutching the sides of her wheelchair as the agony raged on.

A few minutes later, the hallway outside her room erupted with footsteps. Voices overlapped, orderlies, nurses,

maintenance. Keys jingled as they tried the lock.

"No, no, no! Love System, don’t let them in!" Nnenna hissed under her breath, clutching the arms of her chair. "I

can’t explain this, they'll dragfor scans, thinking I'm dying or something."

Silence.

She didn’t know if the Love System had heard her, but the muffled shouting outside grew louder.

"Something's holding the door!" a maintenance worker complained.

"Isn't that the master key?" a voice asked, she recognized it as the chief of the facility, worried.

"Yes, it is, but | don’t know why it’s not working anymore!"

"Move."

The new voice cut through the chaos, cold, low, commanding. Everyone went silent.

Nnenna’s stomach dropped. No... don't tellthat’s Arthur.

"I'm so sorry, Prince Arthur," the chief stammered. "The Princess, she was fine just thirty minutes ago—"

Arthur didn’t answer her. His footsteps ccloser, steady and deliberate, and Nnenna’s panic spiked.

"Love System, use more good points! Increase the defenses, he’s going to break down that door!" she hissed

frantically.

Before she could finish the command—

BAM!

The iron door shook violently, then blasted inward like paper. The maintenance team stumbled back in shock.

"No one comes inside except Carl," Arthur's voice rang out, cold and decisive.

He stepped into the living area, scanning every corner like a soldier clearing a battlefield. Nnenna’s muffled

screams still echoed from her room, but Arthur didn’t rush straight to her.

He moved with calculated precision, checking doors, windows, and blind spots first. Years of training had taught

him, never walk into an unknown situation blind, even for someone you care about. It wouldn't help anyone.

Neither the person on rescue nor the person being rescued.

Inside, Nnenna’s panic hit its peak. "Love System! What the freak?!" she whispered harshly, shaking. She could

hear Arthur's footsteps circling her living space, getting closer.

"l increased the defenses according to his strength from two months ago. He shouldn’t have been able to break

it," the Love System replied, sounding genuinely confused.

"Then why the heck did the door blast open like it was made of paper?! He's going to be in here in seconds!"

"Monster or not, if he sees what's happening here, I'm screwed," Nnenna shot back, sweat dripping down her

face.

"Well... maybe you should just tell him about me," the system suggested hesitantly. "Honesty is the best policy."

"Not going to happen!" Nnenna snapped. "I'm not sitting through another therapy session because of you."

She was still arguing when— BAM!

Her bedroom door blasted off its hinges, crashing to the floor with a deafening clang.

"He's... awesome," the Love System whispered in awe. Then, in a flat tone, added, "Good luck," before its voice

faded out completely.

"Nnenna!" his voice rang out, commanding yet edged with urgency. "Where are you?!"

Silence.

Unwilling to waste precious seconds, Arthur advanced anyway, sweeping the room methodically with his hands

as his eyes adjusted to the glow bleeding through his lashes.

Minutes passed. His boots shifted over fallen debris until his fingers brushed against cold metal. Recognition

snapped instantly.

"Nnenna," he breathed, grip tightening as he realized, it was her wheelchair.

Moving his hand farther left, Arthur's fingertips brushed against her legs.

The reaction was immediate, Nnenna flinched, a sharp wince tearing across her face.

Arthur froze. His cold voice cracked with the faintest edge of panic. "What's happening to you?"

"I-I'm fine," she forced out between shaky breaths. But the tremor in her voice betrayed her.

Arthur's instincts kicked in, he started to open his eyes, to see how he could help—

"Don’t!" Nnenna shouted, pain shooting through her as she stretched out her hand, pressing it desperately

against his face to stop him.

Her palm trembled, but her voice carried a raw urgency. "J-just... stay calm. I'll be fine soon. Trust me."
