The moon was shining bright in the sky, but it could not illuminate the way.
There was no one in this lonely alley. | had just finished dinner with Shannon in her ward when Jordan cback.
I left as | did not want to disturb them.
Since | just ate, | did not want to go back too early. | decided to go for a walk on my own along this alley to help
digest my dinner.
I did not like the busy traffic on the larger streets, and the tranquility of the alleys was unexpectedly attractive to
me.
It was quiet, and no one would be around to disturb me.
Suddenly, there were two figures in front of me, blocking my way.
| looked up. They were unfamiliar faces. Looking at them, | took a few steps back. "Who sent you?"
| had been through these kinds of situations so many times that | was not afraid anymore.
The two of them looked at each other as if surprised by my reaction. Perhaps they had never seen someone so
calm when they had been obstructed. "You're Wanda Lane, right?"
"Yes. Who's the boss who sent you two to obstruct me? Let's talk. Is it for money, or is it something else?" |
already had the answer deep down, but | did not reveal it. The thinner man gavea sharp look. "What a load
of nonsense. Just cwith us if you know what's best for you and we won't make it hard for you."
Follow on NovᴇlEnglish.nᴇtIt looked like they wanted something else since that person ad told them not to hurt me.
If that was the case, then there was nothing to fear.
I nodded and replied, "Okay, let's go. Where are we headed?"
They tookto a black Volkswagen and opened the door to letin. After | got in, the skinny guy went to the
front to drive while the stockier man sat next to me.
| fixed my eyes on the window the entire journey. Feeling the cool wind outside, | was very refreshed. The car
swerved, turning into several alleys before exiting the main road and then turning into another small road again.
It all seemed very complicated.
"We're here."
Only after the thin man's voice sounded did | react. The stocky man pushedout of the car.
Upon opening the car door, we were
met with an abandoned dilapidated
house in front of us. We were
proba
in the suburbs, and the
house looked like it was self-built. en.swhovels.net
Under their lead, | arrived at the second floor.
The wind was blowing in all directions. There was no electricity, so it was dark and one could tell that therew
nothing here with what
little moonlight that shone through.
After standing about for a while, | got impatient and said, "I'm already here. You don't need to hide anymore. You
might as well facehead-on than hide."
A long tpassed and no voice answered me.
The two men looked back atwith sharp eyes as if to remindnot to cause trouble.
However, | ignored them. I did not want to waste time, so | said again, "Do you hear me, Nicky?!"
The moment | said that, a figure cout of the darkness. She clapped her hands and smiled. "You're still quite
smart, Wanda."
Nicky's disgusting face cintol
view. She approachedslowly and did not stop until she was in front of me. She lifted my chin with her fingers
and leaned in closer "The calmer you are, the more disgusted | am. Pretend to be afraid and askfor mercy
and maybe I'll let you go."
"You dare do this to me, Nicky?" | met her knife-like gaze with a calm tone.
| had told her about the people backingand thought she would not dare do anything.
Unfortunately, | underestimated her again.
Hearing my words, Nicky turned around and smiled as she pointed to the two men. "Do you know why I told
them not to hurt you?" "Why?"
Since she wantedto press for answers, | would just ask.
