After replying to Ursula, Melvin arched an eyebrow slightly. "You've really been plotting this all along, haven't you?"

"Yep. You knew from the start, didn't you? | was smitten from the first glance," Jocelyn admitted without any pretense now.

Anyway, he was well aware of it.

Melvin chuckled, "Thank goodness for my good look."

"It's pretty much the only thing about you that could attract me," Jocelyn quipped, giving him a playful look.

Melvin frowned, "Are you sure about that?"

"What else do you think?" she teased, challenging him.

"Isn't there anything technical that | excel at?" Melvin asked with dead-serious curiosity.

"Technical?" Jocelyn was momentarily confused.

Melvin nodded.

"What kind of technical?" she inquired earnestly.

"In bed."

Jocelyn could've kicked herself for talking into that one.

She glared at him. "Can't you have a shred of decency?"

"Are you gonna deny it was good?" Melvin boasted shamelessly.

Jocelyn found herself at a loss for words.

But Melvin was relentless, "Con, Jocelyn. Was it good or not? You have to be honest. If it was good, I'll keep up the good work.

If not, then we'll improve together."

Jocelyn was beyond exasperated with him.

He talked about their intimacy blatantly as if it were skind of high-stakes research project.

It was supposed to be a one-word answer, but Jocelyn found it quite embarrassing to articulate.

Yet the man was stubborn, clearly not going to let her out of the car until she commented.

"Good," Jocelyn said reluctantly, eager to end the conversation, "Now open the door."

"What's good?" Melvin pressed further, shamelessly leaning closer to her.

Jocelyn pushed him away, "Don't get too cocky."

"Looks like I still have srefining to do," Melvin finally stopped teasing her, not wanting to keep Daisy and Calvin waiting too

long.

Once they got out of the car, Jocelyn rushed to her mom and dad.

Melvin, with his long legs, caught up easily and wrapped an arm around her waist to stop her from running.

He whispered teasingly in her ear, "Tonight's the first night for us being husband and wife, right? Let's eat dinner early and get

back to work on those techniques."

Jocelyn's face turned beet red as she elbowed him in the chest, staring him sternly, "Watch it."

"Don't worry, your husband's back is just fine," Melvin laughed brazenly.

Jocelyn was at her wit's end.

She'd told him to watch his language, not anything else.

But his use of "your husband" sent a fleeting shiver through her.

Indeed, he was her husband now.

Legitimately so.

"Alright, enough teasing," Melvin straightened up, taking her hand, "Let's go home."

The door was already open as they approached the house. Jocelyn called out first, "Mom, Dad, we're back."

"I thought you two might've gone out for sfancy dinner after getting your certificate," Yasmine teased from inside, where she

was helping Daisy with the meal preparation.

"We had to have dinner at hwith you today," Jocelyn said as she slipped off her shoes and walked in, proudly showing them

the marriage certificate and the photograph taken earlier when they registered, "Look what we've got!"

Daisy dried her hands to take them, Calvin and Yasmine leaned in to look.

"Lovely," Yasmine exclaimed." With you two's looks, your kids are going to be so cute."

Jocelyn's cheeks flushed. "Yasmine..."

"You're legally married now. Having kids should be on the agenda. Not rushing you or anything, but ask your parents if they're not

eager for grandchildren."

Daisy read the certificate again and again, a hint of moisture in her eyes, and handed it back to Jocelyn, "We don't have any other

wishes except for you two to be happy. As for kids, we're not in a hurry. When the tcomes, we're here for you if you need help

with the little ones. Just remember, as you start your own family, you must consider your hfirst in everything you do."

"Remember, a happy hleads to prosperity."

Daisy's words were simple, yet they held the essence of what's often the hardest to maintain.

Everyone enters marriage hoping for a happy life and to maintain a harmonious household.

But how many can truly achieve it?

"Mom, Dad, we will do our best," Jocelyn said, hugging them gently, "Trust us, we'll take good care of our family."

Daisy was filled with contentment.

Calvin was quite moved, too. His little girl was married now, embarking on the journey of life with another man.

After lunch, Calvin took Melvin downstairs.

Jocelyn watched from the window as the two figures below contrasted starkly. Her father looked so much older next to Melvin.

Her father had always been a towering figure to her like an unshakeable mountain.

But now, he seemed shorter than Melvin, his back no longer as straight as before.

"He's probably having a heart-to-heart with Melvin," Yasmine joined Jocelyn. "Melvin has always longed for a complete family.

Because of his past shadows, the more he craves it, the more he fears it."

Jocelyn's heart ached for Melvin.

"But now, because of you, he's found faith in life again. | think he'll cherish you and the little hbuilt with you," Yasmine said,

placing a hand on Jocelyn's shoulder, "Jocelyn, I'm entrusting Melvin to you. Please take good care of him."

Jocelyn withdrew her gaze and turned to Yasmine, nodding, "The guy I've been pining after for years is finally mine. Of course, I'm

going to treat him right, make sure he knows he is loved dearly by his family and friends."

Yasmine wrapped her arms gently around Jocelyn, her voice trembling slightly, "Thank you."

Jocelyn gave Yasmine a reassuring pat on the shoulder, taking a deep breath. In that moment, her whole mindset shifted, filled with

a profound sense of responsibility.

Melvin and Calvin were out for over two hours before they returned. Whatever they'd discussed remained a mystery, but the

father-and-son-in-law duo seemed to have a great rapport. Most importantly, Jocelyn overheard Melvin call him 'Dad' for the first

time.

To call someone 'Dad' when your feelings have reached a certain extremity can be an impossible task.

Jocelyn was deeply moved. Melvin had truly overcso much for her.

That one word must have brought back memories of his own father, and surely the pain of those past years.

They avoided dredging up the past. Today, everyone was simply overjoyed.

In the evening, Melvin took Jocelyn back to their new home.

It was a villa, beautifully decorated and ready for them to move in.

Melvin led Jocelyn on a tour, from the basement to the living room on the ground floor, up to the second, and then the third.

The third floor housed the master bedroom - a vast space with an equally lush walk-in closet. The closet was already filled with

brand-new clothing still bearing price tags, along with fresh pairs of shoes and an array of designer handbags.

Then, Melvin took Jocelyn by the hand and led her to the bathroom.
