The lights at the end of the corridor flickered. Blake and Kai were sitting on the hospital bench when
she asked, “If I come clean to you later, will you help me, Dr. Stewart?”

Blake was outside the door and did not enter. She smiled at Lana and
nodded her head. Kai did not bother with her and just focused on
comforting Lana, “No need to worry, it’ll be fine. I’ll keep you company
for a while. What you need to do now is to keep up your strength. Do
you want to eat anything? I’ll buy it for you.”
Lana said, “I just want to eat the pastina from Church Avenue.”
Kai obliged, “Sure. I’ll help you get it.
Blake went up and offered herself, “Let me go. I have time. Do you have anything you can’t consume,
Mrs. Stewart?”
Lana looked at Kai for help. He smiled and answered for her, “Nothing spicy. Anything else is fine.”
Blake nodded and said, “Sure. I’ll be going now.”
After Lana saw Blake leave, she asked softly, “She came here for
