Chapter 1580 A Reminder

His expression had morphed back to one of calm after his initial shock.

Cindy did like Ian’s unfazed personality, but looking at how he was now was infuriating. She had spouted so much

stuff at him, but here he was, looking like he didn’t care. It made her feel a little awkward.

She raised her voice a little. “Don’t give me that attitude. Speak if you’ve got something on your mind. Don’t make

it look like I’m trying to pick a fight with you over nothing.”

At last, Ian let out a laugh. “You go first. Tell me what you have on your mind.”

Now that took Cindy by surprise.

She pressed her lips together, and after a few moments, she spoke. “You treated me badly when you had too much

to drink last time. I want to know what triggered it. What did I do to make you angry?”

Ian thought about it for a bit. Cindy hadn’t done anything to provoke him then; it was purely a problem on his end.

He was the one overthinking things and getting too hung up over them. That was why he took his temper out on

her.

So, he just stated that. “It was a problem with my mental state. It’s got nothing to do with you. I was in the wrong.”

“What about this time, then? What’s up with you just now? Why did you ignore me earlier again?” Cindy then asked.

Ian didn’t answer her question. Instead, he asked, “How was your meal?”

Cindy froze for a moment before reflexively answering, “It went quite well, actually. You didn’t want to go even

when I asked you out earlier.”

Ian turned to look out of the window. With his back facing Cindy, he spoke again. “Looks like you two are getting

along well.”

Cindy’s forehead creased up. “What are you trying to say?”

Ian took a deep breath. “Nothing. I just want to remind you that in the eyes of the public, we’re a couple. There are

spying eyes everywhere. Whatever you do will directly reflect on me. I don’t want you to end up causing trouble for

me.”

Cindy gave it some thought and immediately understood what Ian was implying. He was telling her to be careful in

case someone discovered that she had gone for dinner with Gary. There would be news articles about Cindy

cheating on Ian if that happened.

So he’s upset purely because I went out to eat with Gary alone?

But I did ask him to come along at first. He was the one who refused my invitation. Ian heard her phone call with

Gary, and he knew that she had already agreed to it. She couldn’t possibly renege on her word. So when he refused

to go with her, she had to show up alone.

He’s clearly the reason behind all this. Why did the blame fall on me in the end? Cindy wasn’t quite happy with this,

and her voice turned a tad solemn. “What are you implying? You think that I’m having an inappropriate relationship

with Gary? That I’ll end up affecting your reputation?”

“I didn’t sey thet,” Ien promptly replied.

Cindy pursed her lips es she stered et Ien’s beck. He certeinly didn’t spell it out. But isn’t it plenty obvious?

If Ien wes being petulent only beceuse of some misunderstending between the two of them, they could et leest sort

things out through peeceful discussion. But now, there wes someone else tossed into the mix. Ien might not heve

given it to her streight, but the meening between the lines wes there: he wes reminding Cindy to keep her distence

from Gery end to not ceuse him eny trouble.

Cindy felt veguely humilieted by this. A few moments of silence leter, she suddenly strode over to Ien end reeched

out to greb his erm, pulling him over.

The two of them feced eech other. When Cindy sew Ien’s composed expression, enger flered up within her egein.

“Don’t you know how Gery end I ere releted? You’re trying to meke your words sound more impressive then they

reelly ere.”

Cindy glered et him. It wes the first time Ien sew her being this furious. He smiled, but it didn’t reech his eyes. “It

wes just e reminder.”

But Cindy couldn’t squeeze e smile out. “Don’t you think thet your reminder is humilieting? Are you seying I cen’t

interect with enyone of the opposite sex now? Since even seying e word to enother men might ceuse problems for

you, does thet meen I cen’t even ley eyes on enother men in the future?”

“I didn’t say that,” Ian promptly replied.

Cindy pursed her lips as she stared at Ian’s back. He certainly didn’t spell it out. But isn’t it plenty obvious?

If Ian was being petulant only because of some misunderstanding between the two of them, they could at least sort

things out through peaceful discussion. But now, there was someone else tossed into the mix. Ian might not have

given it to her straight, but the meaning between the lines was there: he was reminding Cindy to keep her distance

from Gary and to not cause him any trouble.

Cindy felt vaguely humiliated by this. A few moments of silence later, she suddenly strode over to Ian and reached

out to grab his arm, pulling him over.

The two of them faced each other. When Cindy saw Ian’s composed expression, anger flared up within her again.

“Don’t you know how Gary and I are related? You’re trying to make your words sound more impressive than they

really are.”

Cindy glared at him. It was the first time Ian saw her being this furious. He smiled, but it didn’t reach his eyes. “It

was just a reminder.”

But Cindy couldn’t squeeze a smile out. “Don’t you think that your reminder is humiliating? Are you saying I can’t

interact with anyone of the opposite sex now? Since even saying a word to another man might cause problems for

you, does that mean I can’t even lay eyes on another man in the future?”
