Chapter 1455 New Side of Him

Cindy wasted no time in the kitchen. It didn’t take long for her to finish making oats, a quiche, a breakfast platter,

and even some fried eggs. She brought the food outside and said, “It’s time to eat.”

Ian washed his hands and sauntered over to the dining table. “Wow, it looks scrumptious.”

The quiche had bits of sliced bacon in it, making it look very appetizing.

Cindy simply replied, “Yeah, you’re my boss after all. What should I do if you decide to fire me if I don’t perform

well?”

“Always working hard to impress, I see. At least you know opportunities like these aren’t easy to come by,” Ian

responded with a nod.

Cindy sat down at the table. “What time are you coming back later? Give me a call before you do so I can start

making lunch.”

Ian wasn’t quite sure either; he was meeting the producer today, so he couldn’t tell how long it would take.

“Sure,” he said after a brief hesitation. Immediately after that, he said again, “I might be a bit late, though. Just go

ahead and have lunch on your own if I don’t call you after lunchtime.”

Cindy scoffed lightly. “Do you really think I’ll starve myself just to wait for you?”

For some reason, the two kept on dissing each other today.

Ian hurriedly ate his breakfast. Coincidentally, a call from Hannah came through the moment he was done with his

food.

He picked up and responded briefly as he dabbed his mouth with a tissue paper. “I’ll head over to the company

right away.”

Before he could even say goodbye to Cindy, he had already left the house in a jiffy.

When the door came to a close, Cindy blinked a few times as she sat at the table.

What happened just a moment before put quite an odd feeling in her stomach.

She felt like she had just reenacted a typical scene on television where the housewife prepared breakfast in the

morning before watching her husband leave the house after eating.

Cindy quickly shrugged away her strange thoughts. What am I thinking? I really think too much sometimes.

She hastily ate her breakfast and watered the plants after.

Then, she took a look at what was left in the fridge.

They’d been eating at home a lot recently, so the groceries were being used up fairly quickly.

Thus, she changed into a fresh set of clothes and leisurely made her way to the supermarket.

It was the first time she’d ever felt so relaxed—she finally didn’t have to worry about anything like work or all sorts

of problems regarding Keith’s expenses.

She felt like she could finally let go of her constantly tense mindset and become a normal person.

She even started humming tunes as she picked vegetables according to the list that Ian had given her.

Her everyday life had become so calm and peaceful all of a sudden. How’s that possible? She was a little confused

herself.

Nonetheless, she didn’t spend much time in the supermarket before going home again.

Since there was still time to kill before noon, Cindy tidied the house and went down for a stroll at the park.

She was really starting to enjoy the casual and laid-back retirement life she was living—life would practically be

perfect if she could walk a dog and tease a bird along the way.

There weren’t many people at the park; after going around the area on the path, she sank into a bench to enjoy

the morning sun.

The sunshine wasn’t too strong and bright either. Instead, it was gentle as it left a comfortable feeling on the skin.

Cindy closed her eyes and folded her arms.

Perhaps she couldn’t get a good night’s sleep last night, so she started feeling drowsy as she enjoyed the warm and

cozy sunlight.

As she gradually descended into subconsciousness, her mind instinctively became blurry.

She recalled Ian’s behavior from earlier that morning—it was a side of him that no outsider could ever see.

She didn’t know that he was capable of smiling so casually, more so joking around freely.

Ian always said that her future husband would be lucky to marry her.

She’d always wanted to reply in the same way—his future wife would be so lucky to marry him.

This man had never been in a PR relationship or rumored to have any flings; he was never involved in anything

inappropriate or any unhealthy indulgences. He was truly a good man.

Since he had always treated her so well as a boss, she would probably have to give him something luxurious and

expensive if he really were to get married in the future.

Just thinking about it burns a huge hole in my wallet.

Cindy’s mind was all over the place at this moment. Just a short while after sitting down, she was about to fall

asleep when her phone rang all of a sudden.

She jolted awake and quickly took out her phone. She squinted hard at her screen, and only then did she realize

that the caller was her roommate and good friend from college.
