a maid when you were little.”
Eddie's jaw tightened. “Do you know why I'm telling you this?”

Honestly, he hadn't realized until now that Stella could be this cheeky.
But Eddie wasn’t in the mood to play along.
Stella pouted. “You said Rianne was the first woman to hug you. I'm just trying to clear her name! She’s not the
first person who's ever hugged you, so don’t think you can use that to guilt her into anything.”
Eddie froze. “Use it to what?”
Eddie thought. Guilt her? What, did | look like that kind of person?
“And anyway,” Stella added, “it’s just a hug. What's there to ‘take responsibility’ for?”
Eddie went silent. Just a hug, huh?

it now-Stella was obviously taking Rianne’s side.
That realization stung more than he expected.
“Stella,” he asked, “have | ever treated you badly?”
She stayed quiet.
“Be honest,” he pressed. “Have 1?”
