The moment Samson stepped through the door and saw Sloane there, his tone carried a mix of urgency and

frustration. “Sloane, why are you still here? The Blackhawk team’s exam is next week, why aren’t you getting

ready for it?”

Sloane froze for a second, clearly not expecting Samson to show up so suddenly.

Before she had a chance to respond, Jordan had already furrowed his brows, his tone tinged with annoyance.

“Mr. Samson, what's that supposed to mean? Sloane is my student too, how is she wasting her tby being

here?”

Samson let out a cold snort, crossing his arms as he fixed a sharp gaze on Jordan. “Jordan, don’t play dumb. You

know exactly how important the Blackhawk exam is. If she back by your little side projects, can you afford to

take responsibility for that?”

Jordan's expression darkened; it was obvious Samson's words had hit a nerve.

Just as he was about to argue back, Sloane quickly stepped in to de-escalate things.

“Professors, please don’t argue. I've been preparing for the Blackhawk exam this whole time, | won't fall behind.

I've only been offering sadvice for Jordan's project; it’s not taking up much time.”

But Samson wouldn't let it go. His voice stayed firm, even harsh. “Sloane, don’t defend him. The Blackhawk

exam is tied to your future-there’s no room for mistakes. You should be focusing all your energy on preparing.

Everything else can wait.”

Jordan clearly wasn’t happy, but he also knew the exam was right around the corner-Sloane couldn't afford

distractions.

Still, there was no way he was going to bow his head to Samson. He turned to Sloane and said, “Sloane, just

focus on the exam for now. We'll deal with the project after you're done.”

Hmph, let's see what he has to say for himself then.

Sloane nodded, a quiet breath of relief escaping her chest. To keep the two from starting another fight, she

quickly pulled Samson out the door.

Halfway down the corridor, she spotted Samantha from a distance, heading upstairs with a few classmates.

It suddenly hit her-Samantha hadn't shown up in front of her for quite stime.

Her gaze drifted to Samantha's right wrist, and she figured out why she’d been so quiet lately.

She's got her own mess to deal with; no wonder she doesn’t have tto make her presence known around

me.

Before heading off for the Blackhawk exam, Sloane made stops to treat both Applepie’s dad and Clark.

Right after walking out of the Kent residence and getting into the car, Sloane leaned back, ready to close her

eyes for a moment of rest. That's when the driver's voice broke the quiet, tinged with unease. “Miss, we're being

followed.”

Sloane's eyes snapped open.

She glanced at the rearview mirror, and sure enough, a black sedan was tailing them at a steady distance. Looks

like someone doesn’t want Clark to make it through this.

Almost at that exact moment, two cars shot out from nearby side streets and cut off the black sedan with perfect

timing.

A sharp screech of brakes sliced through the air as the black car was forced to a stop. The Kent family’s

bodyguards jumped out of their vehicles and swiftly surrounded it.

One look was all it took-Sloane knew they were people arranged by the Kent family. If someone had been lurking

outside their estate, of course, they wouldn't be unprepared.

With the tailing car intercepted, two vehicles flanked Sloane’s car from front and back, escorting her away.

The driver, thinking the danger had passed, let his tense nerves relax just a bit. But at that moment, the vehicle

that was supposed to be escorting them from behind suddenly accelerated, slamming hard into the rear of

Sloane's car.

The violent jolt sent her body hurtling forward; her head smashed into the back of the seat in front of her with a

sickening thud.

“What's going on?” Sloane shouted, stunned. But before she could gather her bearings, several more cars sped

in from all directions, closing in tight, trapping them in completely,
