Chapter 185
He looked up and saw a pair of blood-stained, yet clearly articulated palms tightly gripping his wrist. It
was Edgar who had woken up. Not only that, his strength had also significantly recovered due to the
injection of the 023 antidote.
Having slept in the reclining chair, Edgar looked at Eric with a faint smile on his thin, bloodied lips. “I
haven’t died so easily. Why are you so worried?”
“Mr. Fallen!” Surprise flashed in Eric’s eyes as he continued to cry. “You scared us to death! Did you
really think you were dead?”
Cole was so young, and he had been terrified just moments ago. The two of them cried and laughed. in
front of Edgar, disregarding their own images.
Edgar gently patted Eric’s shoulder to comfort him. “I was just exhausted earlier. Under the influence of
the $404 virus, my heart and pulse temporarily stopped, but I could still hear you.”
“I could hear you, but you weren’t responding!” Eric felt betrayed, even shedding tears. This revelation
shattered the image he had of his Mr. Fallen.
Edgar furrowed his brows, groaning in pain. I’m sorry, I truly am. It was a cheap trick.”
He propped himself up and sat upright. “Alright, tell me about this inhibitor.”
Eric wiped away the tears on his face and turned to Cole. Cole understood, sniffed, and began
reporting seriously, “Dr. Y was shocked to learn that you were mistakenly infected with the 5404 virus.
However, this inhibitor cannot cure the disease. It can only temporarily suppress the virus and slow
down its spread. The body can recover for a short period, but the medicine’s effect lasts for a week at
most…”
Follow on NovᴇlEnglish.nᴇtA week. In other words, he could only stay in Frant City for seven more days at most.
Eric added, “Mr. Fallen, this time you need to go back for treatment. Dr. Y has already started
developing an antidote, and you need to return for a blood test. What do you think?”
Edgar pursed his lips and fell into silence. He also remembered his promise to Grace, stated on her
phone, that he would disappear from her world within a year. It wouldn’t be easy to stay by her side for
an extended period. He pondered, remembering the plan that Cole had said last time….
Lost in thought, he suddenly felt someone tugging at his clothes. Coming back to his senses, he
realized it was Eric.
“What is it?”
Eric said, “Mr. Fallen, the medicine prescribed by the regular hospital won’t cure the wound on your
back. Dr. Y brought an ointment specifically for treating 5404 burns.”
Right. Edgar didn’t resist and consciously twisted his fingertips. He removed his dark suit and shirt,
revealing his strong and flawless figure. In the middle of his back muscles was a palm-sized burn.
Three days had passed, and the wound remained red and fierce, with the flesh starting to rot
Even someone as ruthless as Eric, who had licked blood off his knife, couldn’t help but hiss at the sight.
He asked Cole to fetch a basin of hot water from the bathroom. Using a towel, he wiped away the blood
from Edgar’s back, then used tweezers to remove the rotten flesh from the wound.
Edgar’s forehead beaded with cold sweat, his veins bulging, and his jawline tight.
Eric felt a pang of distress and thought of the anesthesia gun they had brought. “Mr. Fallen, should I
give you some anesthesia? This is too painful.”
“It’s alright, my body has already recovered from the effects of the 023 antidote. I can endure the pain,”
Edgar assured.
With no other choice, Eric reluctantly proceeded with applying the medication. Meanwhile, Cole took
the opportunity to clean up the bloodstained floor.
As Cole glanced outside the villa’s gate, he noticed several figures hastily approaching. He grew
suspicious and halted his actions.
“Ms Grace is back with Twelve and Nineteen!”
Edgar frowned. “She’s here already?”
Eric took another look. “She came back on foot, and Nick isn’t with her.”
Realizing the situation, Eric hurriedly continued applying the medicine, while Cole swiftly tidied up the
scene.
Grace hurriedly made her way back from the bay, her panic intensifying with every step. Ever since
Edgar had saved her at Crane Bay Bridge, her feelings toward him had changed. She no longer
harbored hatred, and she knew he didn’t owe her anything. But just because they were divorced didn’t
mean she could stand idly by and watch him die.
Anxious, she entered the garden and soon spotted Eleven lying on the ground, followed by Twelve and
Nineteen. The sight left her bewildered. Had the villa been robbed?
Nineteen stepped forward to examine them and noticed small puncture marks on their necks. “Miss,
they’ve been sedated.”
Grace’s expression grew serious. If Edgar could sedate three people at once and gather them in one
place, who else could be lurking in the shadows?
“Bring them to the living room, wake them up, and interrogate them,” she ordered, then swiftly entered
the villa. She ascended to the second floor and pushed open the door to Edgar’s room.
There sat Edgar, only dressed in a thin silk shirt, hastily buttoning it as he saw Grace enter. “Why are
Follow on Novᴇl-Onlinᴇ.cᴏmyou back? Weren’t you having dinner with Nick?”
Trying to catch her breath after her rushed return, Grace felt a sense of fatigue. Once she had calmed
down, she walked into the room, her heels clicking against the floor.
Standing before Edgar, she narrowed her cold eyes, pinched his chin, and leaned closer. She noticed a
change in his black eyes and furrowed her brows.
In just over ten minutes, his condition had significantly improved. What had he done during that time?
Grace caught a whiff of a metallic scent emanating from his body. It smelled like blood. And there was
a deep red tint on his pale lips, which seemed peculiar.
Intrigued, she brought her nose close to his lips and sniffed. The scent was unmistakably that of blood.
Edgar, realizing their proximity, held his breath, knowing that if he were to take advantage of the
moment and kiss her, the consequences would be dire.
Lost in his own thoughts, Grace gradually moved away from him, straightening herself and observing
him with a serious expression. “You smell like blood. Have you been coughing up blood?”
Her words held both temptation and Interrogation. The dimly lit room emphasized their intense
gaze.
Edgar maintained his expression, gesturing toward the trash can beside him. Following his gaze, Grace
spotted a bl oody bandage, evidence of the fresh wound he had tended to alone. But how had he
managed to apply the ointment to a wound located in the center of his back?
“Is that so?” she asked skeptically.
Edgar obediently nodded. “Yes, that’s right.”
Having lied so frequently as of late, Edgar’s words didn’t convince Grace in the least. She released her
grip on his chin and swiftly untied the metal buckle of the belt around his waist, pulling it out
Edgar’s pupils widened in surprise. “Grace?!”
