Logan ended his call and strolled back alone, his spirits surprisingly high tonight. The chilly evening air felt almost pleasant as he

walked.

Gemma, restless and unable to sleep, went to the window for sfresh air. Spotting Logan heading toward the dorm building,

she couldn't deny the stir of emotions within her. After all, she had been at the forefront of those spreading rumors about him.

Guilt and remorse washed over her, and after a moment's hesitation, she decided to confront the issue head-on.

Logan had just reached the entrance when he heard footsteps behind him. Turning around, he saw Gemma, hesitating for a

moment.

"You looking for me?"

Gemma nodded sheepishly. "I have something | need to confess to you."

"What is it?" Logan paused his unlocking process to face her.

"That day on the balcony, we thought you were a player, and we talked behind your back. | cto apologize tonight. It was

wrong ofto tarnish your reputation based on my assumptions. I'm sorry."

Logan didn't respond immediately, leaving Gemma in an awkward silence.

"If I've offended you to the point of getting expelled, | understand. | just wanted to apologize; what | did was wrong," Gemma said,

bowing slightly in sincerity.

Logan took a moment before asking, "And what made you labela player? What was your evidence?"

"Wasn't there a photo on your desk with a woman? We assumed she was your girlfriend, but you've always been so kind to Faye, so

we thought..." Gemma trailed off, finding it hard to continue.

Logan nearly burst into laughter but then becsuspicious. If they had noticed, it meant the photo was indeed conspicuous.

What if Faye had gotten the wrong idea too?

Remembering the odd vibes from Faye lately, Logan felt uneasy.

"Who else knows about this?"

"Um, besides us, | think Faye and Dr. Pendleton? I'm not sure about anyone else."

Just as he thought! Logan now understood the situation but couldn't find it in himself to smile.

Glancing briefly at Gemma, he said, "Alright, | got it. You can go back now."

As Gemma tiptoed away, she heard Logan sigh deeply just as the elevator doors were closing.

"Turns out she got it all wrong?" Logan muttered to himself while unlocking the door.

The photo was simply from their high school graduation, but it seemed Gemma hadn't recognized it immediately.

It wasn't unusual for Faye to et, but to suspect him of infidelity?

Staring at his phone's wallpaper, Logan pondered, "So your gloominess was because of me?"

Mumbling to himself, he eventually drifted off to sleep.

The next morning, Logan's alarm went off on time. He quickly dressed and drove to the court, where an elderly lady was being

“You wretch!” Mrs. Johnson glared at Logan in the courtroom, having seemingly otten him.

Logan smiled at Mrs. Johnson, “It's tto settle these matters.”

Logan's lawyer was relentless, presenting evidence and videos clearly, with no intention of hiding anything.

The oue was predictable. Mrs. Johnson, lacking a lawyer and attacking anyone who spoke in court indiscriminately, faced her

consequences despite her age.

As the judge announced the sentence, she panicked, tears welling up as she pleaded with Logan, “Dr. Logan, | realize my mistake. |

was just too worried about my child. Please, giveanother chance. Withdraw the lawsuit, please!”

Despite her pleas, Logan remained unmoved until she exhausted his patience.

“You heartless man! You just want to seebehind bars so you can continue your misdeeds. You'll get hit by a car just like that

woman. Scoundrels!” she cursed.

Logan was unfazed by her insults until she slandered Faye, at which his gaze hardened.

“Surely you wouldn't want to face another lawsuit for defamation right after this one, would you?” he said coldly, instilling fear in

the old woman as he walked away.

The lawsuit attracted much media attention. As Logan left the court, reporters swarmed him.

“Can you share the verdict? Did the villain get what she deserved?”

Trying to avoid the media, Logan found himself cornered and answered nonchalantly, “Justice is always served, fairness resides in

the hearts of people.”

“Is this lawsuit for Ms. Faye?” one reporter asked.

Faye, watching the live broadcast, felt her heart race, afraid yet longing for his answer.

Logan responded without hesitation, “Everyone has the right to defend their interests. As part of this hospital, whether it's doctors,

nurses, or interns involved, | won't tolerate injustice.”

His indirect answer left Faye visibly disappointed.

Despite failing to get the desired scoop, reporters persisted until Logan managed to slip away.

Back at the hospital, Logan reflected on his responses, wondering if Faye might misunderstand. But with her currently traveling,

she likely wasn’t paying attention to his situation.

Arriving at his office, Logan found a crowd gathered at the door, all peering inside.

"What in the world are you kids up to now?" Logan couldn't help but furrow his brow each the caught sight of this bunch. "Just

when | thought the dust had settled from your last shenanigan, here you are, kicking up a storm again. Do you even know what

tit is?"

The interns looked visibly ufortable, caught red-handed by Logan. As his gaze swept over them, it was a relief not to spot

Gemma among them.

A somewhat braver lad stepped forward to quiz Logan, "Hey Logan, is that really Faye in the picture on your desk? | totally ship you

two. When you brushed off the media like that, weren't you just cutting us off from all the juicy details?"

The moment Logan opened his eyes to these eager faces, it reminded him of nothing so much as his pet dog back home, eyes

wide and hopeful for a can of its favorite treat.

"Work hours are not the tfor gossiping! Especially not about my personal life!"
