Chapter 1520

Ellinor was at a loss for words.

This old man was just as irritating as ever.

Marcus, who had been lounging around, suddenly stiffened at the sound of footsteps outside the bedroom.

Ellinor also heard the footsteps, but she didn’t hurry. She drawled. “Hmm, when you finally remember who I am, I’ll

be there to finish you off.”

As she spoke, the bedroom door handle was already being turned from the outside.

Without a doubt, it was Sophia.

Marcus glanced toward the door as his pupils tightened. When he looked back at the woman standing by the bed,

she was gone, leaving behind only a gust of wind.

The window was opened again, and the curtains were billowing with the breeze.

By the time Sophia pushed the door open, Marcus as the only one sitting up in bed.

She switched on the light, asking with a hint of surprise, “Marcus, why are you still awake?”

Marcus looked at her, his gaze clear. “Why aren’t you asleep? What are you doing here?”

“I came to check on Tristan. I’m afraid he might kick off the blankets. The temperature’s been dropping these days,

and I don’t want him to catch a cold.”

“Hmm. Thank you for your concern.”

In truth, Marcus was used to it. This had been their routine for the past three years.

Although they didn’t share a room, Sophia would often get up in the middle of the night to check on things. She

came in nearly every night after he had fallen asleep.

Whether she was worried about the child or him catching a cold, he didn’t know, but her suspicions were definitely

warranted.

Sophia smiled. “Don’t mention it. I’m Tristan’s mother; who else is going to care for him if not me? By the way,

Marcus, why don’t you close the window at night?”

Marcus’s eyes shifted to the window. “I did, but the wind blew it open. I was just about to get up to close it when you

came in.”

Sophia moved toward the window as she spoke. “You’re not as mobile, so let me close it. Next time, just call me if

this happens. I’m a light sleeper; I’ll hear the phone.”

“This is a minor matter; I can handle it myself. I don’t want to disturb your sleep unnecessarily.”

Sophia closed the window and walked back to the bed, looking at Marcus with a yearning look on her face. “Marcus,

you really don’t have to be so formal with me. We’re married, and we have a child together. Even though you can’t

remember our past, Tristan is the proof of our relationship. I’m your wife; it’s only natural for me to care for both of

you.”

Marcus nodded. “I know, but I’ve already burdened you enough. I don’t want to inconvenience you any further.”

Sophia suddenly grasped his hand. “It’s not an inconvenience! Marcus, I don’t feel burdened by you at all! I love

you, and doing things for you is a reward for me. Marcus, don’t feel inferior because of your condition. I’ll find the

best doctors for you. You’ll be back on your feet in no time!”

Marcus gently withdrew his hand, casually adjusting Tristan’s blanket. “Thank you. I understand your sentiments,

but now is not the time to discuss this. You should go back to sleep; don’t wake Tristan up.”

Despite her efforts, Marcus remained formal and distant.

Sophia felt a bit disappointed. She had been feeling restless and had trouble sleeping, so she decided to check on

Tristan, only to find Marcus awake as

well.

She was more than willing to share a room with Marcus; even if they couldn’t be intimate due to his condition, she

was content just being by his side when he slept.

However, Marcus didn’t want to share a room with her, claiming it would disturb Tristan’s sleep.
