The next morning, Sophia woke up in Brandon's arms, still in the sbed, under the sblanket.
After their late-night heart-to-heart, the tension between them had eased, but so had the whirlwind of emotions.
With clarity returning to her mind, she was left with the lingering awkwardness of having to face the aftermath of their candid
conversation.
In the end, she used work as an excuse to escape the bedroom.
Perhaps due to the earlier discussion, Brandon, being the naturallyposed person he was, didn’t press further once the moment
had passed.
Follow on NovᴇlEnglish.nᴇtThe man who once claimed, "Who works in the middle of the night?" ended up standing by her side, helping her tweak the science
museum design.
The changes weren't drastic—mostly minor adjustments.
They didn’t manage to finish it all in one go, as Brandon wouldn't let her stay up too late.
He highlighted the sections that needed work, and after she made srough modifications, he insisted she head back to bed.
When she lay down, he joined her, lying next to her.
They spent the night together in a rather innocent manner. Although she was still a bit tense, fatigue from the day and her
previously strained body soon took over. She lay there, not even aware of when she drifted off or how she ended up snuggled into
Brandon's arms.
As she opened her eyes, she saw Brandon quietly watching her.
He had been awake for a while, just silently observing her.
When he saw her awake, he greeted her with a simple, "Morning."
His voice was still husky from sleep.
Sophia wasn’t quite used to waking up with a man beside her, especially now that daylight was streaming in, reminding her of their
heated kisses the night before. Her cheeks warmed slightly at the memory.
Awkwardly clearing her throat, she returned his greeting, "Morning."
Feeling the stiffness from sleeping in one position, she carefully tried to stretch, but Brandon's hand was already gently massaging
her back, easing the tension. "You're too tense. You slept like a board, all stiff," hemented.
"Still getting used to it," she mumbled, avoiding his gaze.
Brandon gave a gentle smile, "You'll get used to it."
Sophia nodded slightly, murmuring an "Mm," but she didn’t dare move too much.
After a bit of relaxation, Brandon got up to wash.
Grace had breakfast ready downstairs. Theresa was still asleep.
