"Dad, can you check if Theresa is hurt?" Brandon whispered softly.
Theresa gave a gentle nod.
After giving her a quick once-over and not finding any serious issues, Brandon finally breathed a sigh of relief. He scooped her up
and headed towards the open-air parking lot in the opposite direction of West District High School.
Sophia stood at the entrance of West District High School, staring blankly at everything unfolding before her.
The students were on break, and the school gates were wide open to allow easy access for staff and their families.
Sophia's gaze slowly shifted from the school nto the open gates. She hesitated for a moment before walking through.
The security guard didn't stop anyone.
She and Amanda strolled in without a hitch.
On either side of the main entrance were the school's bulletin boards and the honor roll.
The honor roll displayed the college entrance exam scores and college acceptances of past students.

On one slightly faded honor roll, Sophia saw the n"Sophia," and just above it, the n"Brandon."
Their names stood side by side, belonging to the two top-performing students of their year.
Sophia stared blankly at the two names side by side on the honor roll, unable to move.
Her expression was one of vacant confusion that Amanda couldn't decipher, as if she was lost in smemory or trapped in a
void.
This was a look that often appeared on Sophia's face since she regained consciousness.
Although Amanda had taken Sophia as her goddaughter, in truth, she couldn't quite figure Sophia out.
As usual, Amanda didn't say anything to disturb her and instead started looking around out of boredom.
Next to the honor roll was the bulletin board, plastered with the latest announcements and notices.
Amidst a bunch of vacation notices and guidelines, Amanda spotted an announcement about the school's plan to build a science
museum and a call for design submissions.
Knowing that Sophia was an architect, Amanda couldn't help but let out a "Whoa" upon seeing the announcement.
Her exclamation snapped Sophia's focus away from the honor roll.
Sophia instinctively looked at the bulletin.
The call for design submissions struck a chord with her, like sweird DNA being activated.
Sophia raised her phone and snapped a picture of the announcement, which included the project manager's contact details and
email. There were only two days left to submit designs.
Amanda couldn't help but glance at Sophia and said, "You thinking of taking it on? There are only two days left to submit, can your
body handle it?"
Sophia smiled back at her, "No worries, just taking a look. | might not even do it."
Amanda also smiled, "That's good."
Then she asked, "Do you want to walk around the school smore?"
Sophia didn't respond. Her gaze lifted to the old and unique teaching building, and that familiar feeling of nostalgia mixed with
sadness started to bubble up again.
Sophia stood there without moving, just gazing.

When Sophia and Amanda returned to the hotel that evening, the city lights were just beginning to twinkle.
They had taken a separate cab back.
Harvey Ferber and Clark cback not long after they did.
"I need to stay in West District for a few more days."
As soon as they got back to the hotel, Harvey Ferber got straight to the point, then turned to Sophia, "How about you? Staying a
few more days or heading back first?"
Sophia seemed to have never considered this question. Her brow furrowed slightly, and she looked contemplative and a bit lost.
Harvey Ferber watched her calmly, without rushing her.
Since regaining consciousness, Sophia was often like this.
Her memory was somewhat impaired, but to what extent was anyone's guess.
She couldn't even remember who she was, but sometimes it felt like she might still retain smemories.
And the root of it all seemed to be connected to that guy named "Brandon."
