Chapter 173

“I hope you'll be happy,” Hailey said with a smile as she waved at Mattie.

Mattie smiled slightly, waved back, and then grabbed her luggage as she left the hospital.

Hailey watched Mattie’s back as she walked away-graceful, confident, and beautiful. Hailey couldn't help but

smile faintly.

She had to admit, she admired Mattic. The woman was capable, brave, and incredibly clever.

Hailey looked down at the USB drive in her hand, her curiosity piqued by what it might contain.

“What's going on?” Owen walked over and stood beside her, asking.

Hailey smiled lightly and said, “Nothing. We might need to stop by somewhere before we head home.”

Owen raised an eyebrow.

Hailey led Owen to an intecafé across the street from the hospital. She quickly plugged the USB into the

computer, scanned its contents, and then immediately unplugged it.

Inside, there were documents detailing Aiden’s embezzlement of company funds and his tax evasion-more than

a hundred pages of evidence. But there was something else too: a video.

The video was about Rose's death.

Hailey had suspected that Aiden might be involved in Rose’s death, but she had no proof-just a hunch. But this

video was different. It was clear, undeniable evidence of Aiden’s crime.

It showed him hitting her with a bottle, dragging her into a basement, and then dumping her body in the middle

of the night. Every action was caught on film in vivid detail.

Aiden must have thought his actions were unnoticed.

Hailey took a deep breath and pulled the USB from the computer.

She really had to thank Mattie for this. It was like she’d been nodding off, and someone had handed her a pillow.

Looking around, Hailey pulled out a mask and hat from her bag. “Owen, | need to take care of something. Wait

forhere.”

Seeing her relaxed demeanor, Owen nodded and didn’t protest. He simply watched as she left the intecafé.

Hailey wrapped herself up completely, making sure no one could recognize her. She found a passerby near the

courier station, handed him two hundred dollars, and asked him to send the USB to the police station.

The man, an honest-looking fellow, saw the serious expression on Hailey’s face, and when he saw that the parcel

was going to the police, he immediately assumed it was important. He even refused the two hundred bucks,

excitedly heading to the courier station.

Hailey shook her head, half-amused, half-exasperated.

But thankfully, the package was sent without issue.

She felt a strange sense of relief. It wouldn't be long before Aiden’s downfall was inevitable.

When Hailey returned to the intecafé, she saw that a small group of young girls had gathered around Owen,

Owen sat there, looking completely innocent, his eyes meeting Hailey’s as she approached.

It seemed like he was quite the mafor attention.

Hailey couldn't help but shake her head.

Most of the girls in the café were around fifteen or sixteen, the oldest being just seventeen. They were probably

skipping school to hang out

Owen, despite being older, looked youthful. Today, he wasn’t wearing a suit, just a simple white shirt and jeans.

He could casily pass as a high school student. No wonder young women were so bold as to approach him.

Hailey didn’t go over to stake her daim but instead walked over to the counter and bought a bucket of popcorn,

planning to sit back and enjoy the show.

After all, it wasn’t every day she got to watch Owen in a bit of a predicament. She might as well enjoy the rare

sight.

The girls, a little bolder now, circled around Owen. Hailey couldn't help but wonder what kind of things they were

saying. But after just a few minutes, the girls dispersed, heading toward Hailey instead.

One of the girls, tall and stylish with a fashionable, bold look, approached Hailey. Her big, clear eyes scanned

Hailey from head to toe.

The girl was dressed provocatively in a black spaghetti strap top and hot pants, showing off her slender waist

and long legs. Her hair was in messy braids, and her face was painted with bold eyeshadow, giving her the air of

someone used to taking the lead.

“You're the girlfriend of that handsguy over there?” the girl asked, lifting her chin slightly in disdain. “Miss,

you're already this old, and he’s so young. I'd say you should just let him go.”

Hailey didn’t take off her mask, only revealing her large, expressive eyes. She looked at the girl, seemingly

confused.

She removed her mask and, in a gentle tone, asked, “Are you talking about me?”

The girl froze, shocked by the beauty of Hailey’s face beneath the mask.

Realizing what she had just said, the girl's cheeks flushed red with embarrassment.

Hailey’s face wasn't just youthful; it was radiant and fresh, with a delicate grace. While her face might have

looked young, the maturity and warmth in her demeanor gave away her life experience.

“I... I'm sorry,” the girl stammered, unable to utter another word. She felt like she had tarnished Hailey’s

presence with her careless comment.

This woman was someone who deserved to be treated with utmost care and respect.

Hailey couldn't help but laugh. She gently reached over and patted the girl on the head, saying, “Focus on your

studies. This place is no place for kids like you.”

The girl, blushing deeper, couldn't stop smiling. She felt warmth in Hailey’s kindness, a sensation she had never

expected from someone so beautiful.

“Thank you, I'll remember that,” the girl said, turning and running out of the café.

Hailey chuckled softly to herself. That girl was simply too adorable.

A low, cold grunt cfrom behind her.

Hailey turned, still smiling, and raised an eyebrow at Owen. “What's wrong?”

“If a guy makes you blush, | can understand. But why is a girl blushing too?” Owen's tone was thick with

jealousy.

Hailey couldn't hold back a laugh. She grabbed his band and said, “Aren’t you the same? You're jealous of a gory,

and now you're jealous of a girl?”

Owen replied nonchalantly, “I'm a jealous guy.”

Hailey’s eyes softened, her smile widening. She couldn't resist standing up and planting a quick kiss on his lips.

“Let's go home.”

Owen's gaze turned warm, the words “home” sounding so sweet coming from her lips. He liked hearing it more

than he let

on.

The two of them walked out of the cafe together.

Owen dropped her off at Dalton Mansion, but not before holding her wrist gently, reluctant to let her go. “Really

not going to stay at my place?”

Hailey’s face flushed red, and she slapped his hand away. “Don’t act like this right in front of the door

“What's the big deal?” Owen grinned, but then becserious. “Alright, I'll pick you up for breakfast tomorrow.
