Chapter 112
Chapter 112
Hailey gave a little twirl, the hem of her dress fluttering softly as she smiled sweetly. “Thank you, Stephanie.”
Stephanie gazed at Hailey as if she were a treasured gem, her face glowing with delight. She quickly said, “I'll
definitely buy more dresses for you in the future. You are so beautiful. It's a pity not to dress up properly.”
Casey, who was at their side, held her forehead helplessly.
“Hailey, I've found the photo album for you,” Nicolas shouted from downstairs.
Hailey rushed out without even changing her clothes.
Casey knew that Hailey had just recovered from a serious illness, so she quickly took a coat and followed Hailey
out,
Nicolas handed Hailey a thick green-covered photo album, his voice tinged with nostalgia. “This is filled with
your mother’s photos-from childhood to adulthood, every stage of her life. Take your tgoing through them.”
Hailey took it. “Thank you, Nicolas.”
Casey helped Hailey put her clothes over her shoulders and sat down beside her.
The album was thick, its pages chronicling nearly the entirety of Valerie's short life, from the very first page
showing her as a newborn, through her years as a bright-eyed child of seven or eight, to a blossoming teen at
fifteen or sixteen, and finally into her youthful praround twenty.
As Hailey read, her eyes turned red.
For sreason, when she looked at these photos, it was as if she really sensed her mother’s existence.
When Hailey reached the middle of the album, she suddenly stopped. Her gaze lingered on a particular
photograph, Valerie in her early twenties, dressed in a celadon-hued gown, holding a round silk fan. Her gentle,
poised demeanor was accentuated by the tender gaze she fixed on the camera, as if looking upon a beloved.
Hailey pursed her lips slightly and looked at Evelyn. “Evelyn, who took this photo?”
Evelyn leaned over to take a look and slowly shook her head. “I'm not too sure about this either. | found it in your
mother’s room, so | collected it.”
Hailey took down the photo and flipped to the back. There was a sentence on the back of the photo: It was taken
on May 6th.
The handwriting was flamboyant and majestic.

“Can | take this picture?”
Evelyn nodded and agreed.
Hailey carefully put away the photo.

Catherine got out of the car and walked straight in. A waiter cover and asked if she had made a reservation.
Catherine took off her sunglasses and said arrogantly, “Mr. Lester made a reservation.”

“One moment, please.”
The waiter checked the records and brought Catherine to the private room on the second floor.
Catherine pushed open the door and casually placed her bag on the table. She looked at the man in the private
room and complained, “You really have no romance in your soul, askingout on a freezing day like this.
The man was dressed in a suit. His expression was cold and solemn. When he spoke, his voice was low and
powerful. “Did you bring the things?”
“Yes, yes. It’s been so long, but you still can’t forget her. You're really infatuated.” Catherine took out a small box
from her bag and handed it to Jackson.
Jackson opened it and took a look. His cold and stern gaze softened.
Catherine smiled and said sarcastically, “If you loved her so much, why didn’t you fight for her when you were
young? Now that she’s gone, you're clinging to these mementos like a lovesick fool. Pathetic.”
Jackson ignored her and stood up to walk out. “The money will be transferred to your card on time.”
“Wait.” Catherine stopped him. Her voice was cold. “Still no news of him?”
Jackson pursed his lips. “No.”
A look of pain appeared on Catherine’s usually arrogant and mean face. “It's been so long...”
Jackson sighed deeply and suddenly said, “How’s that child?”
Catherine wiped her tears with a tissue and said coldly, “She’s living a good life. The Medrano family dotes on
her so much. Thomas likes her very much, too. You don’t have to worry about her.”
“That's good.”
With that, Jackson left the private room.
When he went downstairs, he met someone. Jackson only glanced at him indifferently before walking on his own.
However, he was stopped.
“Mr. Lester.” The man’s voice was magnetic and low.
Jackson turned around and looked at the man. The man was very young and handsome.
“Do we know each other?” Jackson asked.
Owen looked at Jackson and smiled. His tone was calm. “I think we should know each other.”
A trace of confusion appeared in Jackson's eyes. He stared at Owen for a while and realized that he looked
especially similar to an old friend. He asked in surprise, “You're Layla’s son?”
Owen nodded.
Jackson sighed slightly. “I can’t believe you've grown up so much.”
Owen raised his hand. “Mr. Lester, let's talk in private.”
Jackson nodded and followed Owen into the private room.
“How do you know me?” In the private room, Jackson asked in confusion.

Owen handed the phone over. “This is my mother’s diary when she was alive. She mentioned you in it’

Owen only took sunimportant pages for Jackson to see. The entire diary was filled with resentment, his
mother’s hatred for Valerie.
“Mr. Lester, | want to know sthings about my mother back then. | hope you can tell me.
Jackson lowered his eyes and took a sip of water. “What do you want to know?”
“Are my mother and Valerie really enemies?” Owen's voice trembled slightly when he asked this question.
Jackson looked up at him and did not answer the question first. Instead, he said, “Are you dating Hailey?”
Owen paused and nodded.
“If your mother were still alive, she wouldn't allow you two to be together.”
Owen's eyes dimmed. ‘In that case...
“Back then, your father Wyatt, your mother Layla, |, Parker, and Valerie were very good friends. “*
Speaking of the past, Jackson seemed to have aged a lot.
That was a memory from many years ago, but now that he thought about it, the past seemed like yesterday.
Jackson slowly said, “Layla and Valerie were best friends. At first, they were very close, but unfortunately, they
fell in love with the sman. Later on, the two of them turned against each other and caused a huge ruckus.
Your father loved your mother very much and practically obeyed her orders. The love of young people is always
flamboyant and crazy. At that time, we could all die for the people we love.”
At this point, Jackson smiled.
“Did
my
mother and Valerie fall in love with Parker?”
Jackson pursed his lips and nodded. “Parker is the youngest among us, but he’s the most stable and mature. At
that time, we all liked to play and fool around. Only he would take care of us and send us all hsafely after
we were drunk. Moreover, all of us have sfamily background, but Parker is different. His family is very
ordinary. Perhaps the environment has created our personalities. Although Parker is young among us, we all like
to call him big brother.”
