Foreman's eyes widened in disbelief. “Joshua? How could it possibly be him?”
Haynes's gaze darkened, his voice low. "Back then, Joshua was in the car with Stella when the accident
happened. He was actually more seriously injured than she was. Aside from him, | can't think of anyone else
who'd go this far."
Foreman paused, searching his memory. From the start, Joshua had always been something of a nuisance, but
never enough to warrant much attention. Sure, the guy was easy on the eyes, but Stella was constantly
surrounded by attractive men. Foreman never believed she'd fall for someone as soft as Joshua.
Besides, in every interaction Foreman had observed, it was clear that Stella was focused on her career, with no
intention of jumping into a new relationship so soon after her divorce. She was known for being loyal, and there
was no way she'd develop feelings for someone else this quickly.
Foreman had bigger fish to fry. With so many rivals to handle, Joshua didn't even make the list.

He turned to Haynes. "Haynie, what makes you suspect him? Sure, he might have a motive, but does he really
have the means? Aren't you giving him a bit too much credit?"
Haynes's handsfeatures were as cold and unreadable as a winter night. "The fact that we can't dig up any
real information on him—that's a problem in itself. If he's gone out of his way to hide his identity, do you really
think he's incapable?”
Foreman considered it, then said, “If he really is that capable, why would he bother posing as Ms. Cameron's
assistant? Unless...he's secretly in love with her?"
Even as he said it, Foreman doubted the idea. wasn't that Stella lacked charm, but if Joshua truly had power and
influence, he'd stand a much better chance with Stella by being upfront, rather than hiding in the background,
living off her success. People are naturally drawn to strength, after all. Stella was exceptional— there's no way
she'd look twice at her assistant.
Haynes was silent for a few
seconds. "I don't know," he admitted.
Joshua was an enigma. If he had an
ulterior motive, Haynes's
surveillance and investigation Rad turned up nothing-no signs of intimacy or secret meetings with Stella. He
never even tried to approach Keen when Stella wasn't around, so he didn't seem to be using the child for
leverage, either.
Yet, every tJoshua was alone with Haynes, he seemed to go out of his way to provoke him.
Foreman asked, "Haynie, do you have any proof?"
Haynes shook his head. “No, just a feeling. Instinct. If he really is behind this, then he's hiding deeper than any
of us thought."
A glint flashed in Foreman's eyes. “Well, Haynie, isn't he in the hospital right now? If we want answers, why don't
we pay him a little visit? If he's really the one behind this, he's bound to slip up."

At the hospital, Abby finished recounting the hilarious news of Karl's downfall, unable to contain her laughter.
“Ha! Talk about karma! We didn't even have to lift a finger—he brought this on himself!”
What Karl had done was downright
vicious. Neither Abby nor Stella could swallow that insult; they'd been planning their revenge, but before they
could even make a move, Karl had already managed to bring disaster upon himself.
Abby grinned. "Word is, thanks to
Karl's stupidity, Burton Group's stock has tanked-wiped out billions in market value overnight. The shareholders
and board members are all calling for Sellers to step down, blaming him for the mess. | don't know which hero
out there pulled this off, but one thing's for sure-it's poetic justice."
