Chapter 256
Stella was Haynes' wife, and he certainly couldn't do anything to her. The only one who could be manipulated
was the powerless old man. Despite all the negative things he said about Stella in front of Haynes, he knew
better than to actually lay a hand on her. After all, even when you hit a dog, you have to consider the
owner's feelings.
This time, Stella and her companions were adamant about not reconciling, and making a big scene would be of
no benefit to him. Jasper, though impulsive, was not entirely brainless. Realizing the pros and cons, he knew he
had to keep a low profile for now. After all, he didn't want to lose his chance at inheriting The Wilkinson Group so
easily. His letter of apology was still in Stella's possession, and he didn't want to stir up any more trouble.
Jasper suddenly lowered his voice, "Rachel, just hang in there a little longer. | heard that after the holidays,
Haynie and Stella will be filing for divorce."

Rachel was taken aback. "Divorce?"
"Yes, Stella is using your illness and my apology letter as leverage, demanding ten billion. Haynie was so furious
that he's planning to divorce her."
Rachel was incredulous. "Really? Is this information reliable?"
Jasper had overheard bits and pieces of a conversation between Haynes and Benson. As for the parts he didn't
hear, Jasper filled them in with his own imagination. He whispered, "Absolutely."
Rachel took a deep breath, trying to suppress her excitement. "You mean, after the holidays, they're going to get
the paperwork done?"
"Yes, | asked Haynie, and he admitted it himself," Jasper replied, sounding somewhat dismissive. "But it's just the
divorce cooling-off period. Who knows if she'll change her mind once it's over? The woman's walking away with
ten billion, after all!"
Hearing that figure made Rachel's heart ache. What right did Stella have to take all that money? After marrying
Haynie, all that money should be hers!
Rachel thought for a moment and then said, "Jasper, | have an idea to make sure Stella doesn't get a single
penny."
Knowing that Stella and Haynes were preparing for a divorce, Rachel becmuch more compliant in the days
that followed. During this time, Mr. Burton deliberately assigned her difficult tasks and made her serve tea, which
she endured without complaint.
Mr. Burton was genuinely taken aback and whispered, "Something's definitely not right. Stella, what do you think
she's up to?"
Stella glanced at Rachel, who was diligently sorting herbs. "Maybe she's waiting for us to let our guard down so

Mr. Burton was unfazed. "Let them see, I'm not afraid of her games."
Stella spoke quietly, "Mr. Burton, | need to go to City Hall tomorrow to finalize the divorce with Haynes. | might
be a little late."
Mr. Burton, already aware of the situation, was unsurprised. He nodded, "Getting out of this mess sooner is for
the best."
After chatting for a bit longer, Stella saw that it was tand left with Marvin.
The next day, Stella arrived at City Hall with her ID, household registration, and the apology letter. This time, she
wasn't foolish enough to arrive too early-just five minutes ahead of schedule. If Haynes dared to be late, she was
ready to tear up the apology letter.
At 9:58, a sleek black luxury car pulled up beside her. The door opened, and a handsome, dignified man stepped
out slowly.
