Chapter 929
Kaylie wanted to see her son and two other grandchildren whom she had never met before.
That day, when Kaylie stepped into the Youngblood residence, her heart was full of bitterness.
In the past, Kaylie had tried every means to enter the Youngblood residence, but she could only secretly enter
without Leonard’s knowledge.
In order to enter the Youngblood residence, Kaylie had used Lucian’s feelings as a bargaining chip. However, she
had underestimated Leonard’s cruelty that she had hurt Lucian and herself.
“Lucian will forgive you. If he really loves you so much, he won’t let you suffer.” Connor gently hugged Kaylie.
When Connor first met Kaylie, Kaylie’s right hamstring was torn and she was disfigured. Yet, in a peculiar twist,
Connor found himself drawn to Kaylie.
They had been married for 20 years. Kaylie had told Connor everything since the day he married her, but he had
still insisted on marrying her.
Connor knew that Kaylie had always had two people in her heart whom she felt sorry for, one was her dead
husband and the other was her son.
However, Kaylie had never said who his husband and son were.
It was not until this time they came to Strico that Kaylie told Connor that her husband was Lucian and her son was
Jonathan!
“We’ll go back when your leg is cured this time. No matter how bad you feel, don’t show it in front of Jonathan. I
want you to be safe and sound. Do you understand?” Connor said.
Follow on NovᴇlEnglish.nᴇtKaylie looked at Connor who had been with her for 20 years with tears in her eyes. “I’m sorry, Connor. I’m sorry to
have you worry about me so much. If Jonathan really hates me, I’m willing to bear it all. I won’t drag you down with
me.”
“We are husband and wife. You’re being a stranger if you say that. As long as we don’t say it, they won’t know.
Look, Jonathan met you before and didn’t recognize you. Once your leg surgery is done, we will go back to Lofbury
and never come back to Strico,” Connor said.
The secret would always be a secret.
At night, Rosalie told Jonathan about bringing Connor and Kaylie to the memorial hall. “Will you be unhappy if I let
Mr. and Mrs. Smuckler pay respect to your father and grandfather in the memorial hall?”
“They are your mentors. Why would I be unhappy?” Jonathan said. “But why did you take them there?” “I was going
to take them around the house for a walk after lunch, but we happened to pass by the memorial hall. Mrs.
Smuckler said that she wanted to pay respect to my father-in-law,” Rosalie replied. Jonathan frowned slightly. “Mrs.
Smuckler said that?”
“Yeah. Her eyes were red when she lit the candles. But later she felt a little unwell, so I arranged for the driver to
send them back to the hotel first.”
“Mrs. Smuckler sure is emotional that her eyes will turn red when she lights a candle,” Jonathan said thoughtfully.
“She probably thinks it’s a pity that your father died young.” Rosalie sighed. “Speaking of which, Mrs. Smuckler has
had a rough time. Today, I discovered that her difficulty in walking is due not only to the joint injury from an
accident but also to a past incident where the hamstring in her leg was torn.” Jonathan’s body suddenly stiffened.
“Her hamstring was torn?”
“Yes. Mr. Sabatini said it was because she hadn’t been treated well at that time, so walking became more and more
difficult as she grew older,” Rosalie explained.
As Rosalie said that, she saw the grim look on Jonathan’s face. “What’s wrong? Are you feeling unwell?” “I…”
Jonathan took a deep breath and rubbed his forehead. “You may go to sleep first. I suddenly remembered I’ve got
some business to take care of. I’ll deal with it in the study.”
Then Jonathan left the room and hurried to the study.

After walking into the study, Jonathan closed the door abruptly and leaned against it.
The conversation with Kurt in the detention center flashed through Jonathan’s mind. At that time, Kurt had
mentioned one thing. “By the way, Mr. Youngblood, haven’t you been looking for your mother? Let me give you
some clues. After your father died, your grandfather once found your mother and asked someone to tear the
tendons of one of her legs. Your grandfather intended to cripple your mother completely, but unfortunately, your
mother escaped…”
“The tendons of one leg… Could it be a coincidence?” Jonathan wondered. “Besides, Mrs. Smuckler is completely
different from my mother as I remembered. But… anyway, I have to check it out! Only by investigating it can I feel
at ease!”
Walking to the desk, Jonathan took out his phone and dialed Carlos’s number. “Carlos, I want you to help me find
someone. I need to know all that she has been through. Also…”
When the call ended, Jonathan looked down at his chest through his shirt. There was a scar. Even after so many

It was left by his mother.
If possible, Jonathan didn’t want Kaylie to be his mother. Because if she was, it would lead to a bad situation when
the time came.
However, no matter what, Jonathan still had to find out the answer. He had once resolved to find the woman who
had abandoned him and Lucian and then make her pay for what she had done.
After Lillian stayed in the hospital for four days, she was finally discharged.
Her baby was safe for now, but according to the doctor, it would be better for Lillian to stay in bed more often
during the first three months. She would also have to take progesterone shots every day at a community health
center.
After being discharged from the hospital, Lillian went back to her office and applied for a long leave.
The director called Lillian into the office and asked, “Are you pregnant?”
“Yeah, I’m, but the fetus is unstable. The doctor asked me to stay in bed for the first three months as much as
possible,” Lillian replied. “I’m sorry. I know that my pregnancy has caused trouble to the institute.”
There were limited positions in a small architectural design institute like theirs. If Lillian wanted to take a long
vacation, it was inevitable that her colleagues would have to share her work or they would have to hire another
employee. However, if they recruited another employee, the new one would be placed in an awkward spot when
Lillian returned.
“I’ll find a way to deal with the work at your hand, Lillian. You are an old employee of the institute, and I won’t make
things difficult for you. You can take a long vacation, but there are some tasks that you must handle. You need to
complete them at home,” the director said.
