"Hey, don't get all impatient now. You've been under the weather lately, and I don't want to worry about you," Miles said, trying to sound more confident than he felt.
Felicity, his soon-to-be fiancée, was a free spirit if ever there was one. She'd listen when she felt like it, and when she didn't, well, she'd just leave him on read. But what could he do? She was his girlfriend, and he adored her.
Follow on NovᴇlEnglish.nᴇt"Yeah, yeah, I got it!" Felicity replied, her voice light-hearted, but Miles wasn't convinced. He added gently, "Can you hand the phone to Abigail?" "Abigail, your brother wants to talk," Felicity called, handing the phone over to Aurora, who was busy with something but stopped to take the call.
"Hey, bro," she said.
"You and Felicity are going out, right? Just make sure she eats something. Her stomach's been acting up, and if she starts feeling sick, keep an eye on her. If you can't manage, just call me, and I'll cpick her up." "Geez," Aurora teased, unable to resist a playful jab at her brother's over-the-top concern. "What about me, your own sister? When do I get sof that TLC?" Miles chuckled, "Felicity mentioned there's syoung guy at your stuwho's more than willing to take care of you. I didn't want to step on his toes." "What young guy? Quit it! Quentin's just a friend," Aurora protested.
"Oh, Quentin, huh?" Miles replied, feigning surprise.
"I'm done talking to you. Here, talk to Felicity. I've got stuff to do," Aurora said, handing the phone back.
Felicity grinned like a cat with a canary. "Aurora's totally in denial about that guy. But I bet Quentin has a crush on her! Miles, do you think we should do a little digging on this Quentin guy? Make sure he's not trouble?" "Mmm, Aurora knows what she's doing. It's you I'm worried about," Miles said.
Follow on Novᴇl-Onlinᴇ.cᴏm"What on earth are you worried about?" Felicity rolled her eyes. "I'm right here in the States, not going anywhere. You even took my passport!" Miles had confiscated her passport after hearing rumors that Calvin was coming back to the States ande wanted to meet up with Felicity. No way was he letting that happen. "So, what, you think I wanna run off to see Calvin?" "Well, you shouldn't want to," Miles replied, a hint of jealousy creeping into his voice. "He just sees you as a friend, but still..." "Then marryalready, and you е won't have to worry," Felicity teased, dodging the topic like a pro. "Anyway, I'm off to the art exhibit vel with Abigail. Bye!" Miles sighed. Every tmarriage cup, Felicity had a knack for changing the subject.
Felicity hung up and jogged over to find Abigail, who was discussing the logistics of the exhibit.
"There's gonna be a massive storm today. I don't know if we can get the artwork over," one of the staff was saying.
Aurora thought for a moment, then said, "I'll drive over and help transport the pieces. If anything goes south, I can handle it." "But the storm's supposed to be really bad! This place is notorious for thunderstorms," someone objected.
Felicity jumped in, "I'll go! Abigail, you stay here and manage things. I'm used to driving in weather like this. Trust me, I've done it a million times." "Absolutely not," Aurora insisted. "If anything happened to you, my brother would never forgive me!"
