“He’s been busy with work and didn’t mention a thing. On my way here, I called him, and he said that
you accidentally reopened your surgery wound.”

Heather’s lips moved, but she lowered her eyes. “Oh, he said that?”
“Is that really what happened?” Amanda sensed Heather’s evasion.
“Yes, he was telling the truth.”
