Chapter 94 In Thalassa's office, after her call with Kris, Luisa and Mille were staring at her with varying degrees of shock and confusion.
"I can't believe this! You're really willing to let Karen out of jail?!" Millie exclaimed.
"All because of what her mother chere to say?" Luisa fumed. "What if the two of them were in cahoots to deceive you?" "Rita is an honest woman and would never connive with anyone, not even Karen," Thalassa replied calmly.
"Even so!" Luisa stared at her like she was going crazy. "I thought you wanted Karen to pay for everything she has done to you. I can't believe you're just letting her get out so easily." Though Thalassa was exasperated, she could also understand her friends' frustration and confusion. Sighing, she stood up and walked to the floor-to-ceiling window on one side of her office, which overlooked a breathtaking view of the city.
"Luisa, do you remember my main motive for coming back to Baltimore?" she asked, still looking out the window. "Yes. You wanted to avenge the death of the child you lost," Luisa replied, her voice a bit uncertain, as though she couldn't figure out where Thalassa was going with this.

But now I know who's truly responsible, the sperson who orchestrated every horrible thing that happened to me. That person is still walking free." "So you're just going to forgive Karen? Lassa, remember that she was still that woman's accomplice," Millie pointed out.
Nodding, Thalassa slowly turned from the window to face her friends again, feeling her eyes moisten.
"I know, but do you really think this decision was easy for me? No, it wasn't, Millie. But that woman who left just minutes ago... she's like a mother to me. She's taken care ofand done much more forthan any living person has, and she never even asked for anything in return" A tear slid down her cheek. "This is the first tshe has askedfor something. I know it's a great sacrifice, but how do I refuse? I want her to know that I truly did appreciate everything she did for me. That's why I'm going to let Karen go... for a while." Millie and Luisa looked at each other with concern on their faces before Luisa spoke. “For a while? What do you mean by that?" Wiping the tears from her eyes, a cold smile stretched across Thalassa's lips. "What? Did you really think I was going to forgive and let Karen get away with everything forever? No, Luisa. I'm not the Messiah. She had better prepare for what's coming her way once I'm done with Limda Miller." The next day, Karen was sitting on the bed in her holding cell, her hopes growing thinner and thinner, her eyes weary. Her cellmate had been bailed out yesterday, so she was all alone.
She hadn't slept a wink. How could she sleep on that hard, smelly bed that was probably infested with several diseases from all the bodies that had lain on it, especially when she was feeling more desperate than ever? She'd hoped that asking her mother to talk to Thalassa would yield sresults, but she'd already spent another day in the cell, so obviously, that didn't work.
1/3 Chapter 94 +25 BONUS She felt so lost that when the police officer cto unlock her door, she didn't hear until the rattling sound of the door being unlocked broke through her daze.
"You're lucky. Get up. You're being released." Karen blinked, then narrowed her eyes. This particular cop was fond of taunting her, so how could she trust his words? "Should I go and tell them you refused to cbecause you enjoy being locked up?" Immediately, Karen scrambled off the bed. Grabbing her by the arm, the cop pulled her along. She was led to sign her release form and was handed back her phone and earrings.
Just as she finished, she saw Thalassa walking out of the station. Karen quickly followed her.
"Thalassa," Karen called out, finally realizing why she had been released. Thalassa had dropped the charges.
'She quickly walked toward her. "Thank you. Thank you so much for forgiving me, Lassa." Thalassa stared back at her, her eyes filled with nothing but coldness. "Forgiveness? Do you really think you deserve my forgiveness?" Karen bowed her head. "No, but you "Then why are you mentioning it when you know it will never happen?" Karen swallowed. "Even if you won't forgive me, I'm still grateful that you dropped the charges. Thank you." "I didn't do it for you, Karen," Thalassa scoffed, closing the distance between them and whispering for only Karen to hear. "And don't you think for a second that this is it. I might have a lot of affection for your mother, but one way or another, you're going to pay for being that woman's accomplice." Karen was dismayed. She thought she could gain Thalassa's sympathy, but this wasn't the Thalassa she knew years ago. This one seemed to have a heart of stone.
"So you're only pretending because of my mother?" Karen asked bitterly.
"Oh God, Karen. You're out." Rita Blade exclaimed as she appeared. "I'm so happy.' She turned to face Thalassa, tears instantly springing down her cheeks as she hugged Thalassa. "Thank you. Thank you so much, dear. I know you did this for me, and I'm so grateful." Thalassa smiled tightly once the hug broke. “I'm sorry, I need to go." Without waiting to hear anything else, she walked off and got into her car, driving away.
"Mum, she's only pretending. She hasn't forgiven me," Karen complained.

"And so?" Her mother looked at her incredulously. "Did you really expect her to forgive you after all you helped that mother-in-law of yours do to her? Do you know how ashamed I felt begging for her forgiveness while knowing fully well that you deserve to be in jail? You should be grateful that she was kind enough to drop the charges against you." "But, Mum, you don't get it. She's going to putback in "
"Just shut your mouth already, Karen.
You don't know how ashamed I am of you. Let's just got m gotovou house, okay?" Rita cut her off and immediately began walking to her car. Karen followed her, her head bowed in shame. Her mother drove her to the Miller Mansion. Karen felt so liberated to be back home, but the moment she stepped through the doors of her house, she froze at the sight before her.
