Aurelia's fingers trembled ever so slightly as she hastily grasped the coffee mug and took a sip.
"It can't be that serious." Aurelia said.
Sheryl didn't miss the subtle change in her reaction. She guessed that Aurelia must be aware of Leopold's condition and Arnold was certainly in the loop.
Both were playing dumb, conspiring for the position of the head of the Stirling family.
Ever since Leopold had been hospitalized, Aurelia used the excuse of caring for Kane to move into Stirling Mansion.

Her real purpose was undoubtedly to persuade Jessica to choose Arnold as regent to support Kane.
Luckily for her, Jessica had always been wary of Arnold. With Magnolia as her arch-enemy, itching for revenge, how could she possibly entrust him with power? "According to Stirling family tradition, if something happens to Leopold, Kane will become the next heir and someone from among the uncles will be chosen to assist him. You're close with Arnold, so having him help Kane should put your mind at ease." Aurelia took a delicate sip of her coffee.
She could see right through her schemes.
Leopold feigning illness and going off the grid was surely a way to bring out certain of their ambitions.
"Sheryl, I'm just an outsider now. Even though Kane is my son, all | can do is protect him from harm. As for everything else, it's out of my hands and beyond my standing to interfere." Sheryl didn't believe she could stay entirely out of the fray. Once Leopold kicked the bucket, she was sure to marry Arnold and return to the Stirling family.
If Arnold became regent, she would effectively become the lady of the house, unafraid that Arnold would cling to power indefinitely. After all, she and Arnold shared a son, and eventually, the Stirling Group would fall into Kane's hands.
"You are just too uncontentious about it all, never fighting for more. Otherwise, Megan wouldn't have been able to steal your man." "I believe in fate. What's meant to be will be, and there's no use forcing what's not." Aurelia sighed softly, "The reason | agreed to the divorce was because Beverley read my fortune and told me my marriage had reached its end, and all persistence was futile. A phoenix must burn to emerge anew like me, and that is my future." She smiled and said, "Look at me now. | am free and untroubled. If | hadn't divorced, I'd still be locked in a battle of wits with some homewreckers, possibly sinking into depression, or becoming a bitter matron." Her words struck a chord with Sheryl.
She was the one constantly playing games of strategy with some homewreckers.
But she would never get a divorce. She was determined to be alert like a sentry, not letting anyone shake her foundations or climb over her to marry Fredric.
"So, will you continue to be a part of the Stirling family?" Aurelia shrugged, "I'll repeat what I've said before that I'll leave it to fate." In the afternoon, Sheryl sent out the arrangements for the Midsummer ancestral ceremony via email to all family members.
Those who couldn't attend would pay their respects virtually.

That email was like a meteorite crashing into the Pacific, causing waves of alarm.
Everyone was already concerned about Leopold's illness, and now, seeing that he was unable to preside over the ceremony and had delegated it to Fredric, it seemed a storm was brewing.
All relatives made calls.
"Jessica, what's happening with Leopold? He can't even preside over the ancestral tribute?" "Jessica, you can't keep us in the dark about something this big. Leopold is the pillar of the Stirling family." "Don't worry about a thing. If there's any trouble you can't handle, we'll come back and support you." Jessica had already prepared her responses, reassuring them over the phone.
Nevertheless, Aurelia guessed that this year's Midsummer ancestral ceremony was going to be quite lively for the Stirling family On the other side of Elysium, Magnolia, along with Marcia, came looking for Arnold.
"Arnold, Leopold's really out of the picture this time, isn't he? Jessica having Fredric preside over the ceremony clearly means she's planning to support Fredric."
