Beverley let out a sigh. "Aurelia, I've been gone six months, and you and Leopold still haven't tied the knot again?" Aurelia choked at her words. "Don't get me started on Leopold. He's not officially single yet. And we wouldn't get back together even if he were single. He's got a new darling now." Hope was a luxury Aurelia didn't afford when it came to Leopold. He never loved her, and he never considered her feelings in anything he did.
In her mind, she was nothing but a trophy he kept on the shelf. She would never offer Leopold her heart that could spoil the illusion of permanence.
Beverley pouted in discontent. Leopold's fling with Lana was the talk of every upper-class cocktail party. How could she not know? "Why's Leopold such a jerk? Arnold's the one who loves you. | think you should go for Arnold. | heard he's already drafted the divorce papers with Lisa. They'll make the divorce official once Lisa has finished nursing the baby." Aurelia sighed inwardly. Leopold's possessive nature would never allow her to be with Arnold. Besides, she had made her choice - she had to protect Kane.
Only by staying close to Leopold would Kane be safe.
A mother would do anything for her child and could even sacrifice everything she had.
Jessica had done just that to protect Leopold. She had endured being with that scoundrel Mr. Chad, giving up her youth, happiness, and the best years of her life.

Perhaps Aurelia was destined for the same path.
"I'm all about letting go and letting be," she said calmly.
Beverley pulled out a tarot deck from her purse.
"Let me give you another reading. See who your true soulmate is." Aurelia waved her away. "No need. Some things are better left unknown." If things between her and Leopold were doomed to be a tragic end, she preferred to remain in the dark.
A little mystery left room for hope.
Though she had no intention of pinning her hopes on Leopold, she couldn't deny the tiny flicker of fantasy that remained. She was longing for reconciliation inside.
She clung to that fantasy, which gave her the courage to live on and strive for a better future.
Skyler’s eyes lit up. He had never played with tarot cards before.
"Really? These cards can predict the future?" "Absolutely," Beverley nodded with assurance.
William's eyes twinkled mischievously.
"Leah, why don't we see when you'll be getting a boyfriend?" he suggested to Leah.
Skyler clapped his hands in excitement, "Yeah, | wanna know too!" Leah's cheeks flushed pink. "You two cut it out. I'm not interested in getting a boyfriend." "It's just for fun," Beverley said with a smile, shuffling and cutting the deck.
She laid out a spread for Leah and told her to turn over the cards in orders.

The first card was The Lovers, upright.
"Wow, that's a good card," Beverley beamed. "It shows a couple being together with the blessing of an angel.
Bathed in sunlight, they're blessed by the divine. But the road ahead is filled with challenges. The Lovers card suggests you've got someone on your mind, and things are moving towards intimacy." Leah's face turned an even deeper shade of red, her lips curving into a shy smile, her heart racing with excitement.
Unnoticed by her, Avery furrowed his brows subtly at her side. Had she been secretly seeing someone behind his back? Hadn't she promised him to take love seriously? William and Skyler exchanged a glance, stifling giggles.
They had already fantasized about being ring bearers at Leah and Avery's future wedding.
Skyler was eager to play the part, but his parents always said no, fearing he'd mess up and ruin the ceremony.
They regarded him as the troublemaker.
