Chapter 141 Avery took a sip of his juice, his voice low and casual, “Sis, you've been single for so long, don’t you ever think about dating?” Aurelia felt a bit awkward. Her boss was in the next room. One wrong word and she'd be in for a lecture.
“No, | don’t want to date. | just want to focus on my career. Men are just distractions. Dating will only slow me down from making money.” Avery choked on his juice, a ludicrous idea popping into his head.
Was Aurelia being flirty with the boss just to achieve her career goals? Was she this ambitious? Would she go as far as to sacrifice her dignity? In the next room, Leopold stood by the door, which was slightly ajar, allowing him to overhear their conversation.
A smirk twisted his lips.

Avery ate a slice of orange, murmuring, “Arno’s so handsome, so accomplished. You guys are close. Doesn’t that make you want to date him?” Aurelia was even more awkward. It was as though Avery was stirring the pot.
“I've told you a hundred times, Arno and | are just friends. We are now, and we always will be. | don’t understand why people assume that a man and a woman can't just be friends without any romantic undertones.” She raised her voice on purpose, hoping that the person in the next room would get the message loud and clear.
Avery was puzzled. He couldn't figure out his sister's thoughts.
“And what about your boss? Sure, he’s a playboy, but he’s rich and influential. Don’t you want to date him too?” Before he could finish his sentence, Aurelia smacked him on the head.
Was he trying to get her into trouble? She retorted, “How dare you ask such a ridiculous question? | wouldn’t dream of dating the boss! Plus, he’s as cold as ice. He's not suitable as a boyfriend.” She lowered her voice for the last part.
The boss’ love and affection were reserved for his true love. Other women, especially her, didn’t stand a chance.
Avery stared at her, completely bewildered. She was so sincere, so frank, without a hint of deceit.
He was utterly confused. His mind was a whirl of thoughts.
Was everything he saw before just an illusion? While he was lost in his thoughts, Aurelia spoke, “It's getting late. You should leave. Get plenty of sleep. You need to be in top form for the show tomorrow.” She transferred a thousand dollars into his account, “Take a cab home.” Avery scratched his head, “I still have some money left. You don’t need to give me anything.” “In the entertainment industry, expenses can pile up. Keep it for emergencies,” Aurelia said, packing some fruits for him to take home.

He grabbed a bottle of chilled mineral water from the fridge and gulped it down.
Aurelia sank into the couch, letting out a sigh of relief. She picked up an orange, peeling it for him, “Mr. Leopold, care for an orange?” “I don't like oranges,” he replied coldly.
Aurelia was taken aback. Just yesterday he had two oranges, and now he didn't like them? Fickle men, even their tastes were unpredictable.
She peeled the orange and took a bite, while Leopold leveled an icy stare at her, “And what makes you think I'm not suitable for dating?” Aurelia choked on her orange, glancing his way. The moment her gaze met his frosty stare, she quickly looked away.
“You misunderstood me. What | meant was, you wouldn't be interested in me. Even if pigs could fly and the sun rose from the west, even if | were the last woman on Earth, you wouldn't date me.”
