Chapter 548 The Daughter Of Claire
Fortunately, Silvia was quick to react.
She caught the plate in time to avoid dropping everything on the ground.
Still, Avery's words were rumbling like a bolt from the blue in her head.
Allie was married to Avery's father? She even said that Avery is also her kid? How can that be? But Cayden said that
they've done a DNA test to make sure that they're not biological siblings. The results can't be wrong. They're not
related by blood, but Allie's certainly connected to Avery and her father.
Silvia remembered clearly that Allie only had one child—Cayden. The child had been her instrument to cling to the
Moore family, but unfortunately for her, Jeffrey did not recognize Cayden as a legitimate child of the Moore family.
He had been waiting for Lily to give birth to a son instead.
Bruce was timid and wielded little power. He could not get his son to join the Moore family.
Back then, Bruce had fallen in love with a university student. He was too preoccupied courting other girls to have
any time to care about Allie, so he began paying even less attention to Allie's child.
Without Bruce's protection, Lily began putting pressure on Allie, forcibly taking the car and house that Bruce had
given to Allie before threatening her to leave Ackleton.
Allie's dream of enjoying life as the wife of a wealthy man had been ruined. Yet, she had no other way of earning a
living. She had thought of returning to her job as a dancer, but she had had a taste of luxury, so how could she ever
return to a life of hard work? Her impoverished state made her flee Ackleton to search for another way to live.
Back then, she had felt that Cayden was a burden. Afraid that he would impede her in her search for a new patron,
she had mercilessly left Cayden in an orphanage and never checked up on him.

where she had gone to.
Silvia did not know what happened during that time.
Later on, she heard that Claire, who was about to give birth to her baby, had taken in the homeless Allie.
Even though William was under investigation and their family was already in hot water, the kind Claire still lent Allie
a helping hand.
Allie rested in Claire's house for a whole month and a little more. She kept Claire company the entire time. When
Claire went to a remote place to look for her husband and her preterm labor started, Allie was the only one with
her. She was also the one who said that she saw Claire give birth to a stillborn baby.
Silvia found the incident fishy at that time.
Even though Claire seemed weak, she was not in poor health. Furthermore, when she went to the hospital with
Claire for the latter's checkups, the doctor said that Claire and her baby were healthy. Silvia could not wrap her
mind around why Claire's baby suddenly ended up dead.
It was only much later on when she overheard Allie's conversation with another woman did she find out that the
supposedly stillborn baby was only part of Allie's nefarious plan.
She did not know why Allie did that, but from then on, she knew that Claire's baby was still alive.
She made a bold guess. Is Avery Claire's biological daughter? Their faces, eyes, demeanor, and voice seem so alike.
How can they be so much alike if they aren't related?
The world is big, and there are some unrelated strangers who look almost identical to each other, but Avery and
Allie had a history.
Silvia was starting to ponder the possibility of Avery's connection to Claire.
The very thought of it made Silvia's heart race.
She had the urge to rush in and ask for more details, but the immediate confrontation would seem a little too
direct. Things would be immensely awkward if it turned out to be a mere misunderstanding. Not only would Claire
be disappointed, but Avery would be too.
Silvia's hand fell back to her side.
I'll have to look into this first. I'll only ask them about this when I have more evidence. This will be great news if
Avery turns out to be Claire's daughter.
At night, the prison in Ackleton was dimly lit with a warm yellow bulb.
It was the men's prison, and both sides were sectioned off with walls to form average-sized grid rooms.
There were top bunks and bottom bunks, and in each room were seven to eight inmates. Zayne, who was thin and
a little hunched, had a towel draped on his shoulders. He had just washed himself up, and he was still holding onto
his basin as he walked toward the cell. He looked exhausted. Right as he pushed open the iron door, he saw the
male inmates standing up, staring at him as a predator would at its prey.
Alarm bells started ringing in his head. Just as he was about to spin around to scurry out of the cell, he heard the
iron door close and lock behind him.
A fat man stood in front of the door and swept his lecherous gaze over him. “My, Zayne, you're finally done. You're
even more wishy-washy than a woman. Our boss has been waiting for you for eons.”
Zayne lifted his head and glanced at the fiercest-looking middle-aged man fearfully who was surrounded by the
others in the cell. He shuddered.

There is always a king in every land, and a prison cell is no exception. Evidently, the big boss of the prison was the
middle-aged man—Scar.
Scar was covered in tattoos from almost head to toe, and he even had a knife scar on his face from his brow to his
lip. He looked terrifying. Furthermore, he had an aggressive, ruthless gaze. Anyone who looked at him would find
themselves shivering in fright.
Zayne could sense his imminent doom.
Suppressing his nausea, he walked over to Scar and said humbly, “Scar, you must be tired today. Let me give you a
massage.”
“You can skip the massage, but I want you to rub this place of mine. It's rather itchy...” Scar said lustfully before
pinning the skinny Zayne.
Zayne was terrified and wanted to scream for help, but the other inmates seemed to have found a tape from
somewhere to tape his mouth. Despair overwhelmed Zayne's mind.
As he was tormented by Scar, the urge to destroy everything maniacally formed in his mind.
I'm going to remember everything that happened here. This is all because of that b*tch Avery! I used to believe
that she was a kind person who understood me. I loved and protected her, and despite her refusal to have intimate
relations with me during our two-year relationship, I never forced her. Who would have thought that she was having
an affair with Cayden? She feigned moral superiority and prevented me from touching her despite being involved
with Cayden! Not only did she betray me, but she also sent me to prison with the very man she was cheating on me
with. I've been in prison for over a year, and every day is a living hell. But those scandalous scoundrels are still
enjoying their freedom out there.
Zayne was livid, and he had nothing but resentment for them.
He would remember for an eternity the pain they had given to him. He vowed to make them suffer the humiliation
he had to endure.
