Chapter 453

Daisy was at a loss. Having gotten into this mess, why on earth did she have to marry into the Boswell family? Was

she just a trophy wife in the Boswell household?

With a slight smile, Daisy watched Mina walk in and greeted, “Mina, I’m Daisy.”

Mina gave Daisy a once-over. She’d seen her picture before, saying, “Hmm, have a seat.”

“What did you want to talk about, Mina?” Daisy asked.

Mina responded with a light smile, “I’ve only seen you in photos before. From now on, you’ll be the lady of the

Boswell house. As your future mother-in-law, it’s better I get to know you now.”

Daisy could tell, despite Mina’s calm demeanor, she didn’t feel any warmth from her. All she felt was an intangible

pressure. Daisy exhaled slowly, realizing that there was more to this woman than just idle chit-chat.

Sure enough, Mina continued, “You should be aware of Frances’ situation. Your marriage to him was arranged by

the elders. You two may never have met before, but there’s no harm in getting to know each other now.”

Daisy didn’t have a choice, “Yes.” She forced a smile, and her words were stiff. She didn’t know what else to say at

this moment. Should she admit that she was the unlucky one chosen to become the lady of the Boswell house?

“Frances isn’t in good health. He’ll need you to take care of him. Anything that happens with Frances, big or small, I

want to know about it. Got it?” Mina said.

Daisy was taken aback. Did Mina mean for her to spy on Frances? “Um…” Daisy hesitated.

Mina added, “Daisy, if you want Santos Jewels to thrive, you’ll do as I say. When you marry into the Boswell family,

do you know who

runs the show?”

Daisy silently scoffed. So Mina’s goal was to control the Boswell family. Although she didn’t like it, she nodded with a

smile, “I understand, Mina.”

Mina nodded, “Good, you’re smart.”

She turned to Ava, “Take the lady to the third floor to meet the young master.”

Ava was quick to respond, “Yes.” Turning to Daisy, she said, “Please, follow me.” In an instant, Ava’s address

towards her had changed.

Taking a deep breath, Daisy stood up and followed Ava to the third floor. She wasn’t sure if it was just her

imagination, but the air seemed to grow colder with each step she took. By the time they reached the third floor,

she felt a chill run down her spine. As Ava led her to the room at the end of the hall, Daisy could smell a strong

scent of disinfectant, similar to that of a hospital.

Upon reaching the door, a middle-aged man with a scar on his face was seated on a long bench. He frowned at the

sight of Ava, clearly not pleased to see her on the third floor.

His gaze then landed on Daisy. While he seemed puzzled, he didn’t ask any questions. Ava approached John, “John,

this is Daisy, Mr. Frances’ fiancée. It’s her first time here and she would like to meet Frances.”

John responded, “The master has said before, besides Mr. Wilton, no one else is allowed on the third floor.”

Ava retorted, “While we must respect the master’s rules, considering it’s Miss Daisy’s first time here and she is soon

to be Frances’ wife, I believe it should be his decision whether he wants to meet her. John, could you please let

Frances know that Miss Daisy is here?”

John hesitated. His sharp gaze scanned Daisy’s face before he finally went into the bedroom.

Daisy’s heart began to race. The man with the scar had unnerved her. His stare was not that of a typical

bodyguard. His face bore a scar, stretching from his left cheek across his nose. It was a deep scar, clearly years

old, but still quite prominent, as if cut by something sharp.

About two minutes later, John came out of the bedroom. His gaze landed on Daisy, showing a complex look in his

eyes, “Frances says you can come in.”
