Chapter 253

The next morning at 10, Gregory and Christina arrived at a serene and picturesque estate per Dylan's

instructions. This was Byron's retreat, a place so exclusive that even the Beaumont family members needed his

permission to visit. Gregory and Christina had never seen anything like this in their lives. The most luxurious

house they'd ever encountered was their current small villa, which they only managed to acquire thanks to

Dominick's help. But with the Sullivan family's business declining, even that villa might not last much longer.

Nervously following the servant who was leading the way, they couldn't help but marvel at the stunning scenery

surrounding them. The estate was breathtaking, with beautiful views at every turn, leaving them both dazzled.

Before long, they were brought to the entrance of a traditional and elegant building.

A short but sharp-eyed

man stood there, and upon seeing only Gregory and Christina, he frowned, "Why are there only the two of you?

Where is Brittany?" Gregory felt a wave

of frustration when he heard Brittany's name. To ensure Brittany could meet Byron on ttoday, Gregory had

swallowed his pride and begged the Levine family all night, hoping they'd agree to a reconciliation and release

Brittany. However, Christina, who had previously begged Gregory to help Brittany, suddenly urged him not to

seek out the Levine family. Gregory assumed Christina was acting strangely because she didn't want Brittany to

return to the Beaumont family. Ignoring Christina's objections, Gregory went to the Levine family that very night.

If Brittany was confirmed as part of the Beaumont family, Gregory believed

that his relationship as her adoptive father would guarantee the Sullivan family a bright future under their

protection.

But as expected, the Levine family shut the door in his face. They refused to offer any apologies or settlements

and insisted that Brittany face the consequences of her actions. Despite Gregory's repeated pleas, the situation

didn't improve. With the Beaumont family connection still unconfirmed, Gregory didn't dare escalate the issue. If

Byron found Brittany's police station record disgraceful and refused to acknowledge her, it would be a total loss.

For now, Gregory had to endure and focus on passing the meeting with Byron.

Gregory offered a flattering response. "Brittany's been feeling down lately and went on a trip. | tried to get her

back overnight, but something cup on her end, so she couldn't make it. That's why it's just the two of us

here." Dylan listened to Gregory's somewhat reasonable explanation without commenting further.

Christina quickly chimed in, "But we've brought adoption papers and Brittany's photos. We can show them to Mr.

Beaumont first."

Though clearly dissatisfied, Dylan accepted the situation and said, "Fine. Cwith me."

The two of them nodded eagerly and followed Dylan down a long corridor before entering a break room.

Sitting in front of the central coffee table was an imposing elderly man, whose gaze carried an innate authority.

Just being looked at like that made Gregory tremble slightly.

Christina was even more visibly shaken-

her body trembling along with her nerves. She kept her head lowered, not daring to meet Byron's piercing gaze,

which seemed to see through everything.

"So, you two are the adoptive parents of Brittany?" Byron's deep voice broke the silence.

"Yes, that's us," Gregory nodded repeatedly.

"Why did only the two of you come?" Byron asked.

Dylan stepped forward and

explained the reason. Gregory broke into a cold sweat, terrified that Byron would blthem.

However, Byron simply nodded in understanding and even asked with concern, "Why is she upset?"

Gregory felt a bit stuck, unsure of how to respond. After all, it was just an excuse he made up on the spot.

Christina, however, stammered out, "Oh, it's nothing serious. Just sdisagreement with her friends." Byron

nodded. It wasn't uncommon for little girls to have small spats with their friends. "Letsee what you've

brought," Byron said, getting

straight to the point.

Gregory breathed a sigh of relief and quickly nudged Christina. Christina took out the adoption documents and a

recent photo of Brittany from her bag and handed them over.

Byron barely glanced at the documents, only confirming they were from the Angel Orphanage. Then he picked

up Brittany's photo and studied it carefully.

"This is Brittany's latest photo," Christina explained.

Byron nodded, staring at the photo for a long tbefore finally saying, "She does resemble Enya a little."

He put the photo down and explained to Christina and Gregory, "Enya was my younger sister."

Then, as if something clicked, he looked at Christina. "You, you must know Enya, right?"

Hearing this long-forgotten name, Christina suddenly found it difficult to breathe.
