Chapter 213
Chapter 213
Seeing Serena exhausted to the point of not being able to keep her eyes open, Maria could only let her sleep.
Worried she might catch a chill, she borrowed a blanket from the medical staff and wrapped Serena up. "Then go
ahead and sleep." Serena closed her eyes but still thought of Paisley. "I'll sleep for a while. Wakeup when
Mommy comes."
"Okay, I'll wake you up. Sleep now." Maria Jet

Looking at Serena in her arms, even though she was asleep, Maria noticed how Serena would still twitch slightly,
her little brows furrowing, making Maria's heart ache with an indescribable tenderness. Today, Serena got
scared, and to make matters worse, they ran into the Vanderbilt family. What bad luck.
Maria was really hoping Paisley would arrive soon, so they wouldn't have to wait for the hospital checkup. They

on Serena, and if everything was fine, they could go home.
With that thought, Maria calmed down and stopped worrying, paying no more attention to the Vanderbilt family.
At that moment, Grayson slowly woke up. The first person he saw was Lauren "Grandma."
Hearing her grandson's voice, Lauren was overcwith joy. "Sonny, you're finally awake! You scaredto
death!"
“Grandma, it hurts so much, Grayson said, his eyes welling up. Every part of his body seemed to hurt, and it felt
like he couldn't take it anymore.
"Sweetheart, don't move. The doctor just finished bandaging your wounds." Lauren said, feeling heartbroken.
She wished she could take the pain for him.
Dominick stood by Grayson's bed, watching his son's weak state, feeling just as heartbroken, "Sonny, tell Dad,
aside from the pain from the wounds, do you feel anything else? Dizziness? Nausea?" Since Grayson had a green
bracelet on, he had only received basic treatment for the surface wounds from an intern doctor so far, and
hadn't yet been examined more thoroughly.
Grayson was in so much pain from all his injuries that he couldn't focus on what Dominick was saying. "I don't
know, | don't know, Dad, it hurts so much, I think I'm going to die from the pain." Dominick frowned, feeling a
mix of heartache and concern, but he still managed to keep his composure.
But Lauren couldn't stay composed. Hearing her beloved grandson cry out in pain made her feel like she was
being
torn apart.
She quickly walked to the intern doctor, who had been tending to other patients’ wounds, and asked, "My
grandson says he's going to die from the pain. What should we do now?"
"It's normal for a child with that many wounds to feel pain, the intern doctor replied.
But Lauren wasn't hearing it. She felt that this was the hospital's negligence. "You go check on him right now."
The intern doctor was helpless. He didn't have the authority to diagnose patients on his own and could only do
basic bandaging.

Lauren's actions were beginning to upset the parents of other children.
"Hasn't your grandson's wounds been treated already? What's the deal? Just because he's your precious
grandson, does that mean he's above everyone else?"
"You-Lauren clenched her teeth, about to say something more.
Seeing the situation, Reginald quickly instructed his assistant to pull people away. "What are you pullingfor!"
Lauren struggled out of their grasp and glared at Reginald. "Didn't you hear Sonny say he's in pain?"
Of course, Reginald had heard it. This was his only grandson, and he felt just as heartbroken. But this was a
hospital, crowded with people, and so many eyes watching.
If they overreacted, word would
spread quickly, and that would be bad for the Vanderbilt family, as well as for the Vanderbilt Group.
After all, the power of public opinion was enormous these days. If news spread that the Vanderbilt family was
using their power to suppress others, it would certainly cause an uproar and negatively impact the group.
