My heart skipped a beat.
King Pison looked furious, his brows were pinched in a tight frown as he looked atsuspiciously.
"What were you doing outside?" He asked again.
| couldn't speak for a second, as all | could do was stare at him in surprise. Knowing Pison might demand for my
head if | delayed further, | answered quickly.
"lI went to get sfresh air." | said softly.
It look like he didn't believe me. If anything, he only got more angry.
He took quick steps towardsand grabbedby the arm as he pulledcloser and sniffed my skin.
| stiffened, feeling disgusted at his touch, at the stafraid that he might smell something that would
implicate me.
After he was satisfied, he pushed back. | saw the frown on his face ease up to a more relaxed expression.
"| thought you had gone out to meet someone else." He said.
| raised a brow. | knew that was what this was about. For a moment, | was grateful | didn't encounter anyone
aside from Lamia outside. If | had, | was sure Pison would have smelt them offinstantly and assumed the
worst. Trying to cover up, | lifted my chin and hardened my gaze as | faked a hurt expression. | could always use
this to my advantage.
It was so obvious from the look in Pison's eyes that he desiredand he had every intention to taketo bed
tonight.
| knew the only way to escape tonight was to play the victim card.
| pulled it hard. The last thing | wanted was to bed a monster. No matter how much | was willing to save my
people, there were just sthings | wouldn't do, and one of them was allowing Pison to sleep with me.
| allowed the tears to prick my eyes as | set my lips into a small pout.
| saw the panicked look Pison wore immediately.
"You don't trust me." | said sharply.
Pison's eyes widened. "You know that is not what this is about." He started.

right now, and never return." Pison acted quick, and pulledto him in one move. "You are not going
anywhere."
He stared deep into my eyes, and for a moment, | allowed him to believe we were having an intimate moment.
He leaned in, attempting to capture my lips in a kiss, but | turned away at the last minute.

Pison sighed and gently stroked the side of my arm. "I want you Eden, | want to claim you as mine." He said in a
hoarse voice. Pison pressed himself againstand | swallowed the bile that rose in my throat. "What must | do
to tell you how sorry | am for what | did?" he asked.
"I don't trust you too. And | need you to maketrust you." | said.
Pison nodded quickly. "I will do anything you want. What do you wantto do?"
| turned away again so he didn't see the small smile that crept up the side of my lips.
"| want you to hold a coronation union ceremony. And right there, in front of the whole kingdom, you will claim
Pison looked atwith a small frown. | could see the wheels turning in his head before he nodded softly.
"I will make that possible after | have a talk with the elders." He heldtighter. "But for now, | need you."
| placed my hand on his chest and pushed him away. "No. I'm still unhappy with you. I'm hurt. | can only let you
haveafter you makeyour queen." | said. Pison sighed and nodded.
Knowing | had to do something to pull him in, walked towards the bed, dragging Rison along with me. | sat on it,
resting against the headboard and allowed Pison lay his head on my lap as | ran my hand through his hair

There was a long silence. | felt Pison hesitate and just when | was beginning to think he would never answer, he

"I met him Hades, and we made a deal in exchange of my first child for his powers. She is his chosen, and Lily
belongs to him. That was how | was able to defeat Eros..."
| felt a stab in my chest. | had a strong desire to strangle his neck, but | held myself back.

"But Lily is innocent. What if Hades hurts her? Don't you love her?" | asked
Pison sighed. "I made a deal, | must keep my promise." He said.
