looking atlike | was fragile.
“Love, | feel strong enough, | have already wasted too much tlying dormant on this bed, | need to do
something.” | paused and looked at him pleading. “Please Eros, letdo this, | need to get to the bottom of
this, and | think if anyone can get him to talk, it would be me.” | said, caressing his face.
Eros shook his head and stood up from the bed. He started putting his shirt back on. “You need to rest,” he said,
his voice soft yet firm.
| opened my mouth, ready to argue, | wanted to tell him | could handle it, that | needed answers. But before |

The doctor ruffled his hair. “You have to stay just one more night to make sure everything's stable, and you'll be
free to leave tomorrow.”
| was relieved, finally, | can get to my normal life. But as | looked up with happiness, he looked away quickly- like
his mind was somewhere else. | knew something was off. | could feel it. He was holding something back from me,
but what was it?
Before | could ask him what the problem was, the doctor and nurse finished their check up “Rest well, my Lady.
Tomorrow, you'll be on your way home.” they said, and left the room.
My lady? They just called“My Lady“... because it was because of my relationship with Eros, the nephew to
the King of the supernatural.
| shrugged, letting it go. As soon as the door was shut, | turned to Eros. “Okay, we're alone. Talk to me, Eros.
What are you not telling me?”
He looked at me, his eyebrows furrowed.
“What do you mean my love? Everything is fine.” He said, avoiding my gaze. But | was not having it. Something
was wrong, and | needed to know.
“Love, don't lie to me.” | said with a serious expression.
He sighed, breathing deeply “Okay, I'll explain everything. But when we're home.” He leaned down and pressed
a gentle kiss on my forehead. “Get ssleep now,” he whispered gently, and | closed my eyes, drifting to
sleep.
The next morning, the doctor clearedto go, and | felt relieved, like | was alive again.

Arthur observedfrom head to toe. “Are you sure you are strong enough to go

Once we got home, and Eros carriedbridal style to our bedroom, he droppedon the bed and turned to

He didn’t speak right away. | felt him take a deep breath. Then, he wiped his face, and | could sense him
pondering of how to tellwhat was weighing his mind.
“I'm so sorry, Eden,” he whispered, his voice filled with pain. “I couldn't protect her.”
My heart skipped a beat. “Protect who?”
