Chapter 37 I’ll Save You
In a groggy state, Amanda opened her eyes and realized she was in an abandoned
building. Everything around her was a mess.
Not only was she tied up, but her mouth was also covered with duct tape. She couldn’t
think straight.
Suddenly, she heard her terrible father talking to the kidnappers.
“Are you sure your son-in-law is wealthy enough to get 400,000 in cash in a short time? If
you dare lie to us, we won’t let you off the hook!”
The thug pretended to hit him. A terrified Dick hunched his back and covered his head. “I
wouldn’t dare lie to you. My son-in-law is rich. He paid off my debts for me in the past.”
“I’ll be waiting for him to send us the money, then. If we don’t receive the money by
today, we’ll cripple all of you,” threatened the thug with a hideous expression.
Amanda glowered at Dick, wondering why such a jerk even existed in this world.
He dumped his family when he was young and now that he was older, he kidnapped his
daughter and demanded money from her ex-husband. There was no doubt he was
shameless.
Just then. Amanda’s phone rang again.
She couldn’t help but make some noise to attract their attention. However, the thug
ignored her. and picked up the call.
“How is it? Have you gotten the money ready? What? You want to hear your wife’s voice,
huh? you worried we’ve already killed her, Mr. Winters?”
The thug took a look at the woman in the corner and went over impatiently. “Don’t say
any nonsense. Otherwise, even if your husband gives us the money, we’ll still kill you.”
Then, he removed the duct tape from her mouth and placed the phone beside her ear.
The man’s familiar voice was heard over the phone. “Say something, Amanda. Are you all
right? Are you injured?”

streaming down her face.
She was aggrieved and afraid.
“Amanda!” When the man couldn’t hear her voice over the phone, he was flustered.
The thug barked, “Say something! Otherwise, your husband will think that we’ve hurt
you!”
Despite her dry throat, Amanda mumbled slowly. “I’m here.”
Elias finally breathed a sigh of relief upon hearing her voice.
“Don’t be afraid. I’ll save you. Don’t talk to them and leave the rest to me. Alright, let the
kidnapper talk to me.” Elias reminded her patiently and calmed her down.
Amanda looked at the thug and said, “He told you to talk to him.”
The thug then retracted his hand and placed the phone beside his ear. The next moment,
he heard Elias ordering coldly. “Give her water and food. Don’t speak to her. I’ll send you
the money.”
“Haha! Don’t worry. We’ll take care of your wife. After all, we’re only after money. It’s
never been our intention to hurt her.
While the thug was on the phone, Dick stealthily approached Amanda with a bottle of
water.
“Drink some water. When your husband gives them the money, we’ll be safe-
Before he could finish his words, Amanda bellowed, “Get lost! What right do you have to
make Elias pay off your
debts? Do you think he’s your son? Is torturing my mom and me your sole purpose in life?
Do we owe you anything?”
If not for the fact that she had been tied up, Amanda would’ve strangled Dick to death.
“Since your husband is loaded, he can afford to help pay off my debts. They’ve threatened
to hurt your brother. Don’t you feel heartbroken at all? Why are you so unfeeling? Is this
what your mother taught you?”
Dick didn’t feel guilty at all. He even felt that since Amanda was his daughter, she was
supposed to settle the debts for him.
“Don’t bring up my mom. You don’t have the right to do that. Also, I don’t have a brother.
I’m my mom’s only child. Don’t call him my brother when he’s your child with some other
woman. Get lost now. Your presence is revolting!”
Amanda looked away from the older man. She was worried she would be too exasperated.
Why is Elias coming to save me? We’re divorced, so we have nothing to do with each other
anymore. Why would he come when he doesn’t love me? Moreover, he already has Grace.
Why would he want to save me?
Initially, Amanda thought that Elias would ignore the thug. After all, four years ago,
whenever she borrowed money from him to pay off her father’s debts, he was always
impatient and even called her family a bunch of leeches.
However, Elias’ tone over the phone earlier almost made her feel they were still married.
The sky gradually turned dark.
Elias was driving to the suburbs on his own as per the thug’s request.
They kept making him change destinations, as though they were messing with him. His
patience was running out.
Just then, his phone started ringing. It was a call from the thug.
He connected the call and bellowed, “You’ve wasted one hour of my life! What on earth do
you
want?”
“Don’t be mad, Mr. Winters. We’re just trying to find out how sincere you are. You’ll reach
your destination soon. Just put the money in the abandoned factory and drive back to the
city. When we receive the money, we’ll let your wife go.”
With that, he hung up the call.
On the other hand, Elias called someone else and ordered, “Locate my phone right now
and send some people over.”

Just then, Elias received another call.
He picked it up and realized it was Grace. He said frankly, I’m busy now, Grace. I don’t
have time to talk to you. Why don’t I contact you tomorrow?”
Following that, he ended the call.
At the charity dinner, before Grace could say anything, the man hung up on her. She felt
her fury rising within her as she held her phone.
Everyone was expecting Elias and her to walk down the red carpet together, but the man
ditched her at the last minute and didn’t even pick up her calls. When the call finally
connected, he hung up on her after speaking briefly.
She couldn’t take it anymore. Grace was anxious and infuriated at the thought that Elias
might get back together with his ex-wife.
“Well, that’s laughable! Didn’t she claim she would walk down the red carpet with Elias?
Where is he?”
“I think she was the one who fabricated the story of the two of them falling in love. Why
would Elias want to get together with her when she’s just a D-list actress?”
“That’s right. Elias is handsome and wealthy. He can get any girl he wants, so why would
he fall in love with a certain someone?”
When Grace heard the women snickering and mocking her from behind, she felt
humiliated.
Amanda is the one who has caused all this humiliation!
Grace rose from the chair and left the venue in a fury. Since Elias wasn’t around, she
would be the laughingstock for everyone. Therefore, there wasn’t a need for her to stay.
In the abandoned building, the thugs brought Amanda many drinks and food.
Nevertheless, she didn’t have the appetite to eat anything.
She wondered what Elias was doing.
In her heart, she didn’t want the man to pay off Dick’s debts. Since she and Elias were
divorced, he wasn’t obliged to do such a thing.
