Chapter 30 No Projects for the Stewart Family

“Sure! I’ll be there with my priciest cars!” promised Jordan.

“I can even fly there with a helicopter, let alone a luxury car,” said Felix.

“I know the best how to be showy,” said Zac.

“The cars in my garage are getting dusty. I’ll bring all of them,” said Harris.

Sylvia explained, “I wouldn’t have troubled you with such matters if it weren’t for Ms.

Alicia. She is the second daughter of the Stewart family. She insists on competing with

Lord Caspian to find out whose

wedding is grander.

“Coincidentally, both weddings are on the same day. So, we need your help to keep up

appearances. How

could Lord Caspian’s wedding lose to someone else’s?”

Everyone in Southlake City knew about that now.

“Oh? How arrogant. How dare she compare herself to Lord Caspian? She’ll only bring

disgrace to herself.”

“Is she stupid?”

“We’ll be sure to crush her when the day comes!”

The heirs expressed their views.

Sylvia reminded them, “Alright. That’s all. I have other matters to attend to. You’re all

reputable figures in Dhord City. You should know what to do when the time comes.

“Remember, you and your cars must be in Southlake City on the morning of the 30th.

Don’t act on your

own whims!”

It was dark. Alicia and Henry approached Willow right after she reached home.

“What do you want?” Willow was frustrated at the sight of them.

“Oh, Willow. Are we not allowed to visit you just because? But, indeed, we do have

something to talk to

you about,” said Henry. He smiled awkwardly.

“What is it?” Willow asked.

“First of all, congratulations. Everyone knows you’re the project director of Southlake

Corporation now!”

he said.

“Don’t beat around the bush,” Willow said calmly.

“Alright, I’ll go straight to the point,” said Alicia.

She explained their intentions. “We’re here on Grandma’s request. She hopes you can

help our family. You

can do that by handing us several projects from Southlake Corporation.”

“She was the one who kicked me out of Stewart Group. Why would she ask you two to

approach me?”

Willow asked impassively.

She had seen through them. The Stewart family consisted of a bunch of self-righteous

people.

Every single one of them was a snob. They would outright ignore her when she was of no

use to them.

“We have been inconsiderate. Nevertheless, we’re still a family. Please help us.” It was

Alicia’s first time

pleading humbly with Willow.

“I can’t,” said Willow.

Alicia was irked. “How ruthless. You won’t even help your family?”

“It’s not that I refuse to help you. I just can’t. The CEO has declared that we won’t

collaborate with the

Stewart family.”

Willow had thought of helping Stewart Group. After all, her family worked there.

However, Miranda made it clear during the interview-it was the CEO’s decision. She dared

not resist it..

Alicia demanded, “Do you think your excuse is believable? Do we look like fools to you? 1

“The Stewart family has never wronged Southlake Corporation in any way. There’s no

reason for them to

refuse our collaboration!”

“Think what you like.” Willow didn’t want to waste her time on them.

“So what if you’re now Southlake Corporation’s project director? Look at how arrogant you

are about it.

Without your help, we’ll still flourish!” With that, Alicia stood and stomped off.

“How unreasonable!” Henry left too.

Caspian was preparing dinner. He overheard the entire conversation.

At first, he thought they would admit defeat and be kinder with their words. If so, he would

agree to

partner with them on a project. After all, he wasn’t that narrow-minded.

However, they didn’t seem to know better. That was not how they should act when they

were begging for

21

Caspian had no time for such matters. Anyway, the Stewart family would be on the losing

end.

Willow went to the kitchen.

She asked, “Caspian, you’re close to Southlake Corporation’s CEO, aren’t you? I have a

favor to ask of you. Can you put in a word or two so he agrees to help Steward Group?”

Caspian didn’t expect this from her after how Alicia and Henry treated her.

“We were classmates, indeed. But you’re new to your job. If you do this, others will think

you’re using your position to help the Stewart family.

“Besides, look at their attitudes. Let’s talk about it when they clear their minds and come

with sincerity.”

Caspian wanted Willow to take over the corporation in the future. That was why he gave

Willow the position of project director. Then, she would gain her family’s respect.

However, they were still looking down on her till now. There wasn’t an ounce of respect in

the way they

spoke to her.

There wasn’t any point in helping people like them.

“Alright. We’ll discuss it later.” Willow knew she was being greedy.

Caspian’s classmate had already helped him once. It wasn’t appropriate to keep hounding

him.

Alicia and Henry had it all thought out after they left.

Upon reaching home, Alicia put on a pitiful look.

She cried, “Grandma, Willow is truly merciless! I even dropped to my knees, but she didn’t

even bat an

eyelid.”

Henry chimed in, “Yeah! I didn’t think she would be so ruthless. It’s okay if she refuses to

help us, but she

even mocked us!”

“Was she really so savage?” Marilyn doubted them.

She understood Willow’s character. By right, she wouldn’t have been so heartless.

“Oh, yeah. Willow’s extremely confident now she’s working at a famous corporation. She

said in our faces, that we were nothing to her!” Alicia fanned the flames.

Henry looked indignant.

He said agitatedly, “She even said you were the one who kicked her out of Steward Group.

Even if you were there, she would still refuse to help.

“She’s so petty. Why do we have to beg her? Even without Southlake Corporation, we’ll

slowly expand, too!

“Caspian was even more arrogant. He swore he would pay us back for insulting him back

then! What a jerk! Why do we have to beg him?” Alicia said furiously.

“Bastards!” Marilyn trembled with anger. “Willow Stewart! How dare she side with an

outsider!”

“Yeah! Now we know her true colors!” Alicia seconded.

“Didn’t Caspian say he would hold his wedding on the 30th? He also said his wedding

would be grander

than Alicia’s, didn’t he?” Marilyn asked Alicia.

“He did. He said it before everyone. Have you come up with an idea, Grandma?” asked

Alicia.

Marilyn’s eyes glinted. She clenched her fists. “I’ll disgrace Willow and her family on her

wedding day!”

“Huh? Grandma, what are you planning?” Alicia asked immediately.
