325 Death of a Nemesis
With Zeshion finally healed, the battle should start to return to its previous balance.
Before he went and confronted Noir, however, he first moved both Ajax and Vermeil to where Blanc was. They weren't really injured as the halo healed them, but they were now completely out of energy. A stray attack could potentially kill them off!
After throwing them, Zeshion didn't bother with talking it out anymore. With a single leap, which ended up destroying the floor behind him, Zeshion appeared right before Noir's face.
"You cocky little brat!"
Noir wasn't any weaker, however, and quickly set up a powerful barrage of crystal tentacles to hold Zeshion back. Zeshion didn't bother dodging; after all, he knew that someone would handle the tentacles for him.
*Clap!*
With a single powerful clap, the crystal tentacles turned to dust. Noir finally remembered why he was wary of me in the first place; however, it was already too late.
Zeshion's sword waved, aiming to slice off Noir's neck. At that moment, the wall fragments that fell after Vermeil's attack moved like fluid, creating a makeshift wall to block Zeshion's attack.
Follow on NovᴇlEnglish.nᴇtSince it was made of the same material as the dungeon's walls, it also received the same blessing of being hard to destroy. Zeshion didn't give a f*ck, however. His sword swung as if the wall before him wasn't there. As the sword made contact with the makeshift wall, it ended up getting bisected as if it were made out of marshmallows!
Zeshion's sword went forward, unhindered, reaching for Noir's face. Irritation could be seen on Noir's face as he gritted his teeth, frowning hard.
"Don't you dare come close to me!"
A powerful shout, loaded with a dense amount of energy. Zeshion was unable to cover himself in time and ended up getting sent tumbling back. He flew a few meters away, which wasted his chance to land a hit on Noir.
Not missing a beat, Noir set up several layers of barriers to separate him and Zeshion. His protections looked so sturdy that it was almost impossible to think of destroying them from the outside.
"But well, it's useless if the enemy is already inside before the barriers are set."
I muttered, taking a step forward and slamming my palm against Noir's chest, rising up using the stored power in my legs.
While Noir was focusing on Zeshion, I actually moved stealthily, reaching right below Noir's chest without him noticing! The palm strike I let off wasn't a normal physical attack, but something that should disturb his flow of energy or completely let his energy go berserk if all went well.
Noir coughed up blood as soon as my strike landed. He was injured lightly from the strike, but the energy that was rampaging inside his body was causing extreme internal damage.
As my presence was revealed after the strike, Noir sent a few tentacles immediately, chasing me away. However, the bad news was that the barrier was trapping me inside. I have not much space to move about!
Having no choice, I planned to stand in my position and defend against any and all attacks that would come... But again, my body started to move beyond my control.
My hand, no longer in the form of a pair of claws but rather holding a flaming sword, swung in a slow and steady motion, aiming at Noir's face. The act of attacking him in this confined space was definitely the best course of action, but that comes with the risk of being defenseless against attacks. A trade of blows!
*BAM!*
My sword landed first, as I was already moving before Noir even started his attack. However, as expected, I could only cause a small scratch on his forehead. He was mostly unaffected by my attack.
Four tentacles came for me from different directions at that moment. It was too late to wave my sword and deflect them, given the short distance between us. I resigned myself to getting hit by it... but again, my body refused to listen.
I let go of the sword, for some reason, before performing a few motions that completely ignored the maximum range a human's body could move. Thanks to that, the tentacles missed my body by a few millimeters. I survived, but not for long!
Just when I was thinking, "It's the end!" I suddenly moved to the side, crouching down low. Noir's brows twitched, confused at my actions. I, myself, was also confused.
However, soon after, I was relieved by my body's reflexive actions.
Something flew in a straight line, something that I couldn't even catch with my eyes. I could see the space where whatever it was that passed was being warped by the powerful traces of energy it left.
Noir ended up getting hit by it, taking half of his lung along with a foot-wide hole through his chest.
Follow on Novᴇl-Onlinᴇ.cᴏmWith a perceptive glance, I saw that it was actually Fatima firing the Black Dragon. The girls were scattered all over, probably from the impact of the shot. Fatima was also injured from what I could see; I doubt she could fire another shot like that.
Noir's face was the very definition of dumbfounded. He stared at the gaping wound in his chest, together with the continuous hole in the wall leading straight out of the dungeon.
"... Impossible..."
He muttered with a voice lacking energy.
The barrier protecting him faded, falling to the sides like ice exposed to extreme heat. Zeshion stood before him, his sword ready to lop off Noir's head at any moment.
Zeshion didn't bother to do something as cliche as talking to the dying Noir. He knew just how hard it was to kill the bastard, so without hesitation, he swung his sword horizontally. Noir's head fell, rolling along the floor. His surprised expression was still painted on his face.
"... With this, it's finally over."
Zeshion sighed, placing his sword back into its sheath. I, too, managed to heave a sigh of relief. The flaming sword in my hand faded away as I stared at the corpse of a god tamer.
"...?"
However, my heart was still beating fast. It was as if my body was telling me that the fight was still far from over.
