sun blazed bright in a cloudless sky.
"Madam..." Paul approached cautiously. "Are you all right?"
She tugged the corners of her mouth into a feeble smile. Her state was obvious-anyone could see she wasn't all
right.
Yet not a single person stepped forward to help her. Even Paul kept his distance.
She didn't need to guess; she knew David had ordered them not to assist her. The fact that Paul even asked after
her was already a sign of kindness.
