Loving Mom 255
Chapter 255
Nate wanted Carter to be the one to dump Sharon-wanted to see her cast aside, unwanted, abandoned.
What he couldn’t stand was the idea of Sharon being the one to walk away from Carter, and still land on her feet,
looking radiant and triumphant.
Nate hated Sharon. Only when she suffered could he feel satisfied.
Back then, he used to hope Carter would divorce her just to see her break down in tears. But now, when Sharon
was the one asking for a divorce, he suddenly couldn't bear to let things go her way so easily.
Nate said, “Carter, haven't you noticed how much Sharon has changed lately? She used to not even dare raise
her voice at you. And now? She’s actually asking for a divorce. I'm telling you, she must've found someone new.
That's why she’s in such a rush to end things.
“She’s been getting real close with Matty’s dad lately-what’s his name, Xavier? Even helping him take care of
Matty... Who knows, maybe they've already been sneaking around.

“Oh, and don’t forget that musician John. Kelly saw Sharon and John having dinner together once. Who's to say
nothing’s going on there?
“Sharon, that slut! And now, she has the nerve to ask Carter for 100 million-probably to support her new man.
Over my dead body!”
Nate spoke with rising fury, then turned toward Carter.
“Carter, getting married is easy. Getting divorced? Not so much. Don’t you dare make it easy for her. If you don’t
want a divorce, we can drag this out as long as it takes.
“Even if she sues, we can keep her tied up in court for two, three years-no way she’s walking out of this clean.
“Meanwhile, we transfer every bit of marital property, legally, out of reach. Make sure she doesn’t see a single
cent. She’s only this eager to leave you because she thinks there's money in it.
“So we don’t just make sure she walks away with nothing-we hit back and make a claim for her assets, too.”
Nate had run with his share of shady circles, seen more than a few nasty divorce battles up close.
In their world, high-society divorces often ended up in court, especially when property was involved. Walking
away empty-
handed was rare.
The more bitter the split, the more both sides refused to let the other win.
Scouples fought like enemies for years after the divorce-clawing at each other's reputations, dragging each
other down.
Nate had heard plenty of unbelievable stories-of men who stashed away assets in secret, and worse, managed
to snatch money from their ex-wives too.
When it cto dirty tactics, Nate believed no one was better than him.
He went on, “We've got custody of Theo, right? Then we make Sharon pay child support. With how much that kid
costs to raise, let's set it at 100 thousand a month. Let’s see how she handles that.” 1
He laughed. “In the end, she'll ccrawling back, crying, begging for forgiveness.”
The schwas so vicious that Julliard couldn't help but frown.
“Nate, con. Sharon and Carter are married. They have a kid together. There's no need to go this far and turn
this into some
kind of blood feud.”

Nate scoffed. “Blood feud? This is just making her face reality. She's the one who keeps shouting about divorce-
so let her see how cruel the world can be. She'll run back to Carter, tail between her legs, and won't dare say the
word ‘divorce’ again.”
Julliard sighed. “Carter, don’t listen to this nonsense. We need to think this through, calmly...”
But when he turned to look at Carter, he saw him quietly rubbing the wine glass in his hand, eyes clouded with
thought.
Julliard’s gaze sharpened.
“Carter... don’t tellyou're actually taking Nate's advice seriously?”
