Chapter 1644:

Ellis looked confused.

Freya whispered, “I'm the soft one. You're supposed to be the strict parent.” Ellis tapped her nose gently, then

stepped into the role. “No.”

“Dad?” Nina's eyes widened in surprise.

“Yes, it's me,” Ellis said in his usual pleasant voice.

“Are you really saying no?” Nina pouted, trying to be extra sweet. “I'll be good, I'll behave, and I'll get perfect

scores.”

“Do you really want to stay there that badly?” Ellis asked, his voice unreadable.

“Yes!” Nina answered quickly, her tone filled with hope.

“Then maybe in your next life,” Ellis replied with a faint smile, “be sure to choose Jeucwell as your birthplace

next time.”

Nina puffed out her cheeks in frustration. “Dad!”

“Anything else?” Ellis asked with a casual tone.

“I'm doing this for Damian,” Nina explained, trying to sound responsible. “You always say we should help others.

| just want to help him be happy.”

“And then what?” Ellis countered calmly.

Nina spoke sincerely, “Your little girl just wants to do a kind thing. Shouldn't you be supporting that?”

“Kindness should be encouraged,” Ellis agreed, his voice cool. “But you don’t have to involve yourself in every

good deed.”

“Lettalk to Mom instead,” Nina said quickly. “She’ll understand.”

Ellis turned to Freya and raised a brow. “She wants to speak to you.”

Freya sighed, unsure why he didn’t just say she was busy.

“Mom, are you there?” Nina asked in a small, unsure voice.

Freya pressed her lips together, then replied as usual, “I'm here.”

“What do you think about what | said earlier?” Nina asked with hopeful eyes. “I promise to work hard, be good,

and I'll chduring school breaks.”

“It's not good for you to stay there,” Freya replied, thinking fast.

“Why not?” Nina asked, confused.

“If you're always around Kristian, he’ll have a hard tfinding a girlfriend,” Freya explained with a serious tone.

“Didn’t you always wish for him to get married and have a family someday?”

Nina looked over at Kristian and finally understood. “Oh, right.”

Kristian needed to fall in love and have his own family one day. If she stuck too closely to him, speople

might get the wrong idea, and that could hurt his future happiness.

Freya smiled. “If you want to spend twith your new friend, call him after school or visit Jeucwell during the

holidays.” Her tone was warm but casual, and she was not too worried about Nina's social plans. “But you can

stay and study in Jeucwell.”

Kristian piped up out of the blue. “It’s no big deal.” His voice was firm. “She won't get in my way.”

Nina's eyes widened. “Huh?”

“You being here won't stopfrom finding someone special,” Kristian said with a grin, hoping Nina would stick

around. Her presence might even bring Freya over more often. “Having you around could help my chances.”

Nina's face lit up with curiosity. “Really?”
