Kristian frowned, shaking his head. “I'm not okay with that.”
“Your opinion doesn’t change things,” Brielle replied, cutting straight to the point. “Nina’s a girl, and there are
things | can help with better than you can.” She knew this was exactly what had been bothering him.
Kristian blinked, caught off guard by her logic.
“Are you still going to sendaway?” Brielle asked.
“I can just hire someone,” Kristian shot back, not wanting to get too close. “You don’t need to—"
“Then pay me,” Brielle cut in smoothly, unfazed. “I could use sextra cash. Nyour price per day.”
Kristian opened his mouth to say no, but Nina ran over and tugged Brielle away to play.
After just a few hours together the day before, the two were already thick as thieves.
“Ill draw up a contract later,” Kristian said, seeing how happy Nina was with Brielle.
Brielle’s eyes flickered briefly, but she quickly masked it, diving back into playtwith Nina.
In the days that followed, Kristian and Brielle took the kids out for fun during the day, enjoying tasty meals and
making sure they got to bed early.
Over time, Nina and Brielle grew as close as two peas in a pod.
One evening, after Nina finished her bath and slipped into her pajamas, she looked up at Brielle with wide,
sparkling eyes. “Do you like Uncle Kristian?”
Brielle paused while fixing Nina's shirt, then gave a soft smile.
