After tucking Yolanda snugly into bed, Lizetta followed the doctor out.

In the living room, Remington and Cassius were still waiting. As soon as the doctor appeared, Cassius looked up expectantly.

"How is she?" The doctor explained the situation briefly, then approached Cassius. "How about you, sir? Lettake a look at you, too." She was the Sterling family's private doctor, and though she'd wanted to check on Cassius first when she arrived, he'd insisted she see Yolanda. But Cassius didn't look well either, so she asked again about his condition. Cassius waved her off. "I'm fine, no need to check." The doctor frowned. "But you have a bruise on your forehead and your face..." Indeed, Cassius had a noticeable swelling on his forehead, and a distinct handprint was visible on his right cheek-courtesy of Lizetta's earlier slap.

Looking irritated, Cassius blocked the doctor's attempts to examine him further. "I just bumped into something, it's nothing. You can leave now, and I'd prefer it if today's events stayed confidential." The doctor had been with the Sterling family for years, and Cassius had only called her because she was nearby. He did not want her reporting back to his parents.

Seeing how determined he was, the doctor didn't linger and soon took her leave.

Once she was gone, Cassius doubled over, holding his head, trying to suppress the urge to vomit.

Remington's lips twisted into a wry smile. "Three floors up, and you're acting like you've given yourself a concussion?" Cassius winced, annoyed. "It wasn't the fall, it was Yolanda! She's the one who hit me!" Lizetta stood with her arms crossed, not an ounce of sympathy in her gaze. "Why on earth would Yoli hit you?" Her eyes were sharp and accusing, as if she were staring down a criminal.

Cassius felt the heat rise in his cheeks, the sting of the slap flaring up again. Anger bubbled within him. "And what makes you think I did anything to her? I swear..." His words were cut off by a sharp pain in his leg. He yelped and looked incredulously at Remington beside him.

"Remi, I'm already hurting, and you're kicking me?" Remington's face was impassive, cool as ice. "Watch your tone with your sister-in-law." Cassius almost choked on the unfairness of it all. Was he not speaking respectfully? It was Remi's girlfriend who had jumped to conclusions and humiliated him.

"She..." He started to protest but stopped short at Remington's m warning glare, swallowing his curses.

"What could possibly have done to Yolanda? I saw she was drunk and thought I'd help by bringing her back here to rest. She puked all over my car and my suit, and I didn't say a word. I even helped her change into fresh clothes. Then, out of nowhere, she goes berserk, kicksso hard I hit my head, and before I can ask her what's wrong, she throws herself down the stairs. How is any of this my fault?"

Cassius, clutching his forehead, felt utterly misunderstood and unjustly blamed. He was having the worst Wow how it luck if he'd known how wild Yolanda luck ch would get when drunk, he wouldn't have let her drink in the first place. Despite his detailed explanation and genuine distress, he looked up to find Lizetta and even Remington still regarding him with suspicion.

"For God's sake! Everything I've said is true. Why are you looking atlike I'm a criminal?"
