“No, you don’t,” he said, his tone low and hidden with a quiet threat. “I have business | need to get done today.

The door flew open and soon, Nan was rushing into the room.

We spent sttalking and eventually, thanks to the pain medication the doctor gave me, | ended up falling

| opened my eyes and looked over at the man walking towards me. It was Beta Ron. A second later, Nan came
rushing into the room as well and my eyes dropped at the sight of her smile.
“What's going on?” | asked, staring between the two of them.
She cto us and explained that you were injured and couldn't compete until tomorrow,” Beta Ron said,
glancing at his clipboard with a frown. “We switched you with another person so you can compete tomorrow
morning instead.”
“Are you serious??” | asked my hope in my throat, waiting to burst.
Beta Ron nodded.
“Yeah, and you have this one to thank for that. She was persistent,” Ron muttered.
He turned and left the room. Nan squealed and hugged me. | couldn't believe this... | was going to compete, and
nothing was standing in my way this time.
“Thank you, Nan,” | breathed as | hugged her back.
“I told you, we got this,” she replied.
