Chapter 745:
After finishing work, Jareth made it a habit to walk her to her new residence. The apartment building stood in the
middle of a wealthy neighborhood, where life seemed slower and the people moved unhurriedly.
“Alice, this is where I'll leave you,” Jareth said, halting at the front door but choosing not to step inside. Without
clear instructions from Verruckt, he didn’t dare cross the threshold.
“If there's anything you need for your day-to-day living, don’t hesitate to ask,” he offered.
“You're very thoughtful, Mr. Williamson,” Allison replied with a polite tone. “I feel guilty troubling you.”
Jareth’s reply carried a subtle undertone. “It’s no trouble at all. After all, you're staying in Mr. Shaw’s hnow.
Helping you is like helping him. Besides, | might call on you for a favor one day.”
“Then | appreciate it, Mr. Williamson,” Allison said, acting as though she hadn’t caught the underlying message
in his words. “Oh, by the way,” Allison began, her tone casual, “I'm thinking of inviting Mr. Shaw over for dinner
later. Is there a supermarket nearby where | can pick up singredients?”
Jareth paused briefly, then reached for his phone. “What do you need?” he asked smoothly. “I can arrange to
have everything delivered to you.”

His voice was steady, carrying a quiet assurance. It felt as though he could make even the most extravagant
request appear effortless.
Jareth already knew that tonight's meeting had been canceled and Verruckt would be eating here instead.
“You really don’t need to go through all that trouble,” Allison said quickly, waving her hand dismissively. “I'd
rather do the shopping myself.”
Pulling a card from his pocket, Jareth handed it to her. “In that case, use this,” he said. “Mr. Shaw is a bit
particular about his food, so aim for the... pricier options.”
“Alright,” Allison said with a smile.
By the tthey went their separate ways, the sun had nearly set. A soft amber light streamed through the
windows, bathing the interior in its fading glow.
Allison paused to take in her surroundings. The walls were painted a pale gray, and the furniture was stark and
angular, as precise as the calculations in a scientist's notebook. Even the golden hues of the sunset seemed to
lose their warmth inside this space.
